๐๐ฌ A REALLY NICE AFTERNOON IN KESWICK ๐ฌ๐
Today weโve been down to Keswick Museum for another Dementia Cafรฉ session, and what a fantastic afternoon it was. โค๏ธ
People who know us will know that dementia is something very close to our hearts, especially Louise and whenever we get the opportunity to support causes like this, weโll always do our best to help.
Weโve done a few of these sessions recently, and today we took along a big selection of old-fashioned and traditional sweets for everyone to try โ and hopefully bring back a few memories along the way. ๐ญ๐ฌ
And it certainly did!
We heard some brilliant stories, including people remembering spending their swimming money on sweets ๐, the mad rush to the sweet shop after getting off the school bus, favourite treats from years gone by, and plenty of sweets that sadly arenโt around anymore!
One of the best parts of the afternoon was sitting and chatting with two gentlemen aged 91 and 90, listening to their stories and memories from their working lives, family lives and growing up. You could honestly sit and listen all day. โค๏ธ
Thatโs what makes these sessions so special. Sometimes something as simple as the taste of an old-fashioned sweet can bring back a memory and start a conversation that might not otherwise have happened.
And the best part? Everything we do for these sessions is completely FREE for them. ๐
We supply all the sweets, go down in person, sit and have a chat, enjoy a coffee and a bit of cake and just spend some quality time together.
We even had a SWEET QUIZ today! ๐๐ฌ Safe to say there was plenty of knowledge in the room!
A massive THANK YOU to Jen for organising everything and allowing us to be part of such a lovely afternoon. โค๏ธ
Weโll always keep doing our best to give back to the community as much as we possibly can. It isnโt always about business! Days like today are worth so much more.
Thank you for having us ๐๐ญ
Hereโs to plenty more sessions, stories, sweets and memories! โค๏ธ
