From Belfast, drive towards Carrickfergus. Drive through Carrickfergus, you'll pass through Eden. Drive for about 5 miles and Whitehead is on the right just after the petrol garage. Turn right just after the garage into Cable Road. Third turning on the left brings you down into King's Road. It's definitely getting colder outside and what better way to spend the chilly seasons than to be crafting up a storm? Our Crochet for Beginners course can't come at a better time! Starting next Friday 11th September. You'll spend 5 weeks with tutor Jackie Megahey learning the basic crochet stitches and terminology, and by the end you'll be ready to start making handmade gifts for all your friends and family (if that's your cup of tea)! The course runs every Friday evening and includes a full comprehensive starter kit with yarn, tools, and patterns. Do you have a much loved but tired chair or foot stool.Why not bring it along to our upholstery course and give it a unique revamp?

Anna Margaret Jamieson will assess your project and give guidance on how to upholster you chosen project.

There will be tools available to start the project and Anna Margaret will advise you on material, stuffing etc you will need.

As part of this year's Music and Mind festival in Whitehead, we're hosting a community quilting project (as well as our weaving project!). Come along to the shop on August 28th and 29th, decorate your square of fabric however you like, and we'll collect all the squares to be sewn into a hopefully huge quilt. All materials will be provided, including plain squares of cotton fabric and fabric paints/markers. We're looking forward to the entire weekend and seeing what beautiful things we can create together!

Join us for a moment of reflection at the end of the month and take part in our community weaving project. A large loom will be set up outside the shop (weather permitting!) and we're looking forward to welcoming our wonderful community to each weave a section of this tapestry. Fabric for weaving will be provided, as will pens if you'd like to write something on your chosen fabric before weaving it through. If you'd like to bring your own material to weave, go for it! We can't wait to see what we'll create together as a community!
