Drawing a Tabby Cat in Charcoal

Just finished up my latest pet portrait! 🎨

I decided to do this tabby cat in dramatic charcoal, but I couldn't resist adding a pop of pale green for those eyes—I think it really makes the whole piece come to life! Adding the whiskers at the end is always a bit nerve-wracking, but I’m so happy with how he turned out.

It will be exactly a year on the 6th of this month since I lost my beautiful boy, Blue, to hip dysplasia at just 4 and a half years old. 💔

To mark one year without him, I wanted to do something special. This graphite sketch is based on one of the very last photos I ever took of him in the garden, just a couple of weeks before he passed.

Looking straight into the camera, this captures the exact way he used to look at me. It was incredibly emotional to draw, but I wanted to share my finished sketch alongside the original photo and a little video.

A whole year without you, mate, but you're still missed every single day. Forever my handsome lad. 🐾✨

Captured my handsome Blue looking straight at me from the garden. 🌿✏️

This was taken in the final two weeks of his short life, before hip dysplasia took him from me at just 4 and a half years old. Doing this drawing brought back all the love I have for him.

I've posted the finished sketch, the original photo, and a quick video. Always in my heart, mate. 🖤🐾💙🐾💙💔
