Loch Watten. End of 2026 Season.

I got these photo’s at the weekend from Derek Mair and Alex Pettigrew who had a few days at the end of September. On their last day on Watten they landed 10, lost 6 and were broken twice. Their average trout was 1.5 pounds.
All fish caught fell to Arthur MacDonald’s patterns. The pictures is Alex with 2 of his best ones caught, both 2.5 pounds.

David MacDonald and James MacKintosh had a few days early this week and had some great sport with lots of fish at 1 lbs.
James had the best one at 3 pounds on one of Arthur MacDonald’s patterns from his book, a Black Split Head Smidge.
I still have some signed copies of Arthur’s book.

Last week Watten regular Jock Sinclair fished the loch for 5 days and had 20 very nice trout up to 3 pounds. Most of his fish were taken on a Midge Tip Line and various traditional wets.
Well done Jock, a great way to round up your 2026 season on Watten.
