ππ 100th Birthday π π
Can you please help?
In just over a month, a resident of Wickersley will turn 100!
Arnold who is a WW2 and D-Day Veteran, has lived here for over 75years. He remembers the Fish Pond where the dual carriageway is now, horse and carts on the roads, the Vinegar shop long before the Tanyard was built, the Cobblers on the crossroads before the houses were demolished to make way for the roundabout, he rented a house from Mr Lister in the early days, ran a local Car Sales garage and has obviously seen many, many more changes.
What Iβd really like to show Arnold though, is that despite his βyouthfulβ age and him not being as active within the community any more, that he is still seen and hasnβt been completely forgotten. Arnold is a lovely, quiet and humble gentleman, who has never asked for anything from anyone. He loves his football, has a cheeky sense of humour and enjoys a trip to Starbucks for a Lemon Muffin, but he has very few family members - none of whom live close by unfortunately and only a very small close circle of friends. So what Iβm asking is if we can come together as a community and aim to send him 100 birthday cards for his 100th birthday?
Adele and the lovely team Wickersley Post Office have kindly agreed to act as a drop-off point for any cards you would kindly like to send and they also have some in stock already too.
Arnold is in my opinion a true hero, he served his country with pride and would have given his life for it, he is old-school, from the βmake do and mendβ era, where everyone looked after everyone else and took care of each other in times of need. I would therefore like to show him that even at his grand age that some of that spirit does still exist and truly hope you can help us to achieve it.
Thank you so much π€π€π€
