If historical fiction, witches and Scottish history are your thing, I have two books to recommend

The King’s Witches (Kate Foster) vs The Wise Witch of Orkney (Anna Caig)

Both books are set in James VI’s Scotland and explore women caught up in the terrifying world of witchcraft accusations, with Queen Anna of Denmark featuring in both.

Here's the first of two new sections of books in RL - Women in Translation.
Did you know that translated books make up only 3% of the UK print market and fewer than 31% of those translations are written by women! We're featuring some excellent authors from all over the world and if you haven't heard of them why not give them a try!

What the Cake Fairy does on a Saturday evening to keep up with demand this time of year. Believe it or not this is only 2 days worth of sponges. I think she has now earned a rather large glass of wine!

So, what do you do on your day off apart from more baking...well if your sock drawer is tidy then you tidy your spice trolley of course!! I have been trying to convince a friend who probably knows me better than anyone that I have a bohemian alter-ego. She, unjustly, believes me to be anally retentive and that it would be too stress inducing for me to 'ditch my rigid routines and love of order'....actually maybe she has a point!!

So sorry for the appalling lack of communication over the last few weeks, the Cake Fairy has been rather preoccupied - back on track now though and as you can see the Book Festival Baking Schedule is up and baking has started.
