ROSE (Rosa spp.)

There are some plants that seem to ask us to slow down, and rose is one of them.

Used for centuries in herbal traditions, beauty rituals and ceremony, rose is loved for its gentle, skin-softening qualities and its beautiful association with love, comfort and the heart.

For us, it’s also a reminder that everyday care doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes it can simply be a beautiful scent, a botanical oil, or a few quiet minutes to yourself.

We grow roses in our own garden and love weaving this beautiful botanical into the rituals and products we create. 🌿

There’s something about making things slowly that feels like a small rebellion against the way we’re encouraged to live 💪✨

No rushing. No mass production. Just simple ingredients, botanical oils and a process that takes its own time.

Each Earth & Herb product is made in small batches, by hand, with intention, turning the everyday things we use to care for ourselves into something that feels a little more like ritual.

This is our botanical soap, freshly cut and beginning its journey. 🌿

MEET THE HERB 🌼 Chamomile

Small, familiar and often overlooked, chamomile is one of those plants I find myself returning to again and again.

Traditionally used for its gentle, soothing qualities, chamomile has a long history of use for calming the mind, supporting rest and digestion, and caring for delicate or irritated skin.

But one of my favourite things about working with chamomile is being able to grow it here at home.

Throughout summer, I gather the little flower heads as they open, dry them slowly and preserve them in the apothecary ready to be used long after the growing season has passed.

There is something incredibly grounding about knowing where a botanical has come from.. watching it grow from seed, harvesting it by hand and eventually turning it into an infusion or everyday ritual.

As summer begins to soften, my chamomile is starting to reach the end of its season. The plants are looking a little wilder, a little more tired, but they’re still giving me flowers to gather. 🌼

A reminder that working with plants means working with the seasons, rather than against them.

Botanicals are at the heart of everything we create. 🌿🌼

And wherever we can, that story begins right here at home.

Calendula, chamomile, rosemary, lavender and rose are all plants we grow ourselves 🌱

Tended through the seasons, gathered by hand and slowly dried or prepared before finding their way into our botanical rituals.

There is something incredibly special about knowing where a plant began. Watching the first shoots appear, waiting for the flowers to open, harvesting them at just the right moment, and eventually seeing them become part of something made to be used and enjoyed.

Alongside the plants we grow, we carefully source other botanicals that have been chosen for their traditional uses and the qualities they bring to each preparation.

🌼 Calendula : gentle, soothing and one of our most-loved skin botanicals.

🤍 Chamomile : soft and calming, traditionally used in gentle skin preparations and herbal teas.

🌿 Rosemary : aromatic and traditionally used in hair and scalp preparations.

🌹 Rose : grown for its beautiful petals and its soft, nurturing place within botanical skincare and ritual.

💜 Lavender : aromatic, calming and perhaps one of the plants that best represents our belief in slowing down and making space for small moments of care.

There’s something about rosemary that has always felt synonymous with hair care. 🌿

Used traditionally in herbal hair and scalp rituals, rosemary is one of those plants I find myself returning to again and again.. simple, familiar and incredibly versatile.

It sits at the heart of our Rosemary & Nettle Scalp Oil, where rosemary and nettle are slowly infused into nourishing botanical oils, alongside cedarwood and grapefruit essential oils.

Together, these botanicals help to nourish and condition the scalp and hair, creating the perfect foundation for hair that feels healthy, cared for and beautifully conditioned from root to tip.

Created as a little ritual before wash day, just massage a few drops into the scalp, take your time, and allow it to sit before washing through.

This is also the first little glimpse of one of the Earth & Herb products I’ve been quietly creating behind the scenes, which feels rather special. 🤍

MEET THE HERB 🌼 | CALENDULA

There is something about calendula that feels like sunshine in plant form.

Calendula officinalis has been treasured in traditional herbalism for centuries, particularly for its relationship with the skin. Its golden flowers are traditionally used in preparations intended to soothe, nourish and care for dry, delicate or irritated skin.

Rich in naturally occurring plant compounds including flavonoids and carotenoids, calendula is one of those wonderfully gentle botanicals that has earned a permanent place on my apothecary shelf.

At Earth & Herb, we slowly infuse dried calendula flowers into botanical oils, allowing the oil to draw out the oil-soluble constituents of the plant before it becomes part of some of the rituals we create.

And this is exactly what we want Earth & Herb to be about.

Not simply finished products, but reconnecting with the plants behind them. Learning what they are, how they have traditionally been used, and why we choose to work with them. 🌿

So this is the beginning of a new little series here…

I thought I should introduce myself properly 🌿

I’m Amy, the hands and heart behind Earth & Herb.

I’ve always felt most at home surrounded by nature, but over the last few years that connection has grown into a real love of herbs.. growing them, foraging for them, learning about their traditional uses and finding ways to bring them into everyday life.

Earth & Herb really began at home. With herbs growing in the garden, jars of oils infusing on the shelves, teas being blended in the kitchen and a growing desire to simplify the ingredients in the things we use on our skin and in our homes.

Slowly, that little world became Earth & Herb.

A space where I can share the things I create, but also everything I love about herbs, plants, growing, foraging and living a little more closely with nature.

There’s so much I want to share with you here, and I’m so happy you’re here at the very beginning. 🤍

A little idea that has slowly grown into something I’m so excited to finally share.

Earth & Herb was born from a love of plants, nature and the simple rituals that remind us to slow down and make a little space for ourselves.

Botanical oils, balms, butters, fragrance, herbal teas and small everyday rituals, thoughtfully created using naturally derived ingredients and inspired by the plants that surround us.

Everything is made slowly, in small batches, with intention. 100% nature derived 🍃

This space will be about more than just products. I’ll be sharing the herbs, the making, the foraging, the knowledge, the rituals and the story behind Earth & Herb as it grows.
