August is upon us! And we are celebrating 40 years since the mill first opened as a craft centre, bringing with it Debby Kirby Debby Kirby Silk Weaver who has been the ‘heartbeat of the mill’ ever since!

Find her silk and paper woven artwork and colourful collaborations throughout the mill this August with her wonderful exhibition ‘Threaded Together’, hanging in both the main gallery and the pop up space, and of course in her mezzanine studio.

Later in the month you’ll find hand made millinery and fascinators by Jo Jangles Millinery and painting by Danielle Dawn Littlewood

This month there’s workshops for everyone
🍰 Paint, Coffee & Cake
🐚 Plaster casting shoreline treasures
🖼️ Mixed media collage
🧺 Make a berry basket

And there’s the popular kids’ summer workshops returning - booking is essential! See website for details and how to book

Don’t forget it’s our craft market every second Saturday of the month - running 10-4pm

And you can watch creativity in action and buy direct from our friendly resident makers year round in their open studios/shops all across the ground floor, before treating yourself to a delicious lunch or cake in Little Pickle at the Mill as you watch the swans glide by on the river.

🚧 ongoing roadworks 🚧
You can still walk to us from Wimborne town centre via blind lane or along the river, but if you’re driving you’ll have to approach from Victoria Rd by the green man, driving past the hospital and turn right at the lights leading into Stone Lane. Through the road closed signs and turn left into Knobcrook Rd where the car park is open as usual.

Opening hours
Wednesday to Saturday 10am-5pm
Sunday 11am-4pm
(Closed to the public Monday and Tuesday)

🐕 Dogs welcome
🆓 Free entry
♿️ Wheelchair friendly

Roadworks have started! here’s how you can get to us now the Stone Lane junction is closed (until early September!)

IMPORTANT: Google maps tells you to drive through Blind Lane. This is pedestrian only! Silly Google!

So follow this instead:

Go via East Street, which turns into King Street, across the roundabout past the green man and onto Victoria Road, past the hospital and at the traffic lights turn RIGHT onto the top of Stone Lane.

It’ll say road closed ahead but you can get through to us, it’s only the bit by the junction that’s closed.

You can still get to Walford Mill car park, the medical centre, plus Eight Arch brewery and the other businesses in stone lane

See you soon!

🚨 Important notice 🚨

Stone Lane will be closed to all vehicles between Knobcrook Road and Westbury Borough (including the junction leading to us!) from 27th July to 4th September 2026.

There will be diversions in place, but please know we are OPEN AS USUAL!

So if you’re coming to Walford Mill Crafts, Little Pickle Cafe or Walford Mill Medical Centre you’ll have to approach via St Margaret’s Hill (past Victoria Hospital) and turn right at the lights to come down from the top of Stone Lane, turning left into Knobcrook Road.
Walford Mill Car Park will remain open.

The closure is required for Ford Civil Engineering to perform essential highway and signal improvements to the junction.

Thanks in advance for your continued support
From all at Walford Mill and Little Pickle

It’s the second Saturday of the month which means it’s Courtyard Market time!

Enjoy browsing the stalls, perhaps a spot of brekkie or lunch at Little Pickle at the Mill

And don’t forget to pop inside the mill for more browsing of all the makers open studios and shops on the ground floor.

It’s free entry, dogs welcome and we’re wheelchair friendly.

There’s a pay and display car park RIGHT next door (Walford Mill Car Park) but it’s also a pleasant shady 5/8minute walk by the river from the Allendale Centre car park.
