I have obsessively fished for most species of UK freshwater coarse and game fish and tied various fly patterns since an early age. Some thirty years later I still have the same desire as I did back then, even with a busy family and working life. I really get pleasure from figuring out and discovering a waters potential, learning a different method or helping others get the best from their fishing,

be it with bait or fly. This page is geared more towards those that target predatory fish like pike on the fly, sharing my fly designs, some good and some requiring work, and perhaps tying a few flies for fellow fly-fishers to try out. No flash bucktail hollows for pike and zander, or for big bass. Lots of movement as use ostrich over the bucktail. The next fly-drop on www.flashtails.co.uk will be Tuesday 28th April at 8pm. It's a small drop of about 20-25 bucktails. I'll get the website updated over the weekend. 👍

I get a bit bored in the evenings so started tying for next drop. Hopefully I'll have enough for a drop in mid to late April. Should be good timing for those out targeting the post spawn pike on the stillwaters. Anyway here's some bucktails in the 8-9" range.

An hour to go and I'll release this lot. For those that haven't purchased before, they aren't yours until you checkout. Multiple orders I will of course refund the postage so you pay once. Colour borrowed from the Finns. I'm sure the UK pike will eat Finnish cuisine 😆. Anyway these will be up for grabs Tuesday 10th March at 8pm. Though I am tempted to steal one for tomorrow's kayak fly fish. Assuming the river allows a safe launch.
