Wonderful edition of ‘From the Earth to the Moon’ - full title: ‘direct in 97 hours 20 minutes’, which turned out to be impressively accurate for space travel a century later! 🚀 🌒

It was first published in 1865 and the sequel ‘Round the Moon’ in 1869. This lovely 1875 edition contains both.

Also on the shelf; ‘The Wonderful Travels’ which contains ‘Around the World in Eighty Days’, ‘Five Weeks in a Balloon’, and ‘A Journey to the Interior of the Earth’ and a first edition ‘Clovis Dardentor’.

A wonderful collection of books, mostly Edwardian, on Etiquette for women, keeping up appearances and the practicalities of running a home. It’s all here; how to greet in public, how to dress appropriately (and wash said garments correctly) and what to do with untrained servants.

Amongst the experts of the day were G.R.M Devereux and Flora Klickmann. Flora wrote many other books including on crafts and needlework and became editor of the ‘Girl’s Own Paper’.

The ‘Englishwoman’s Domestic Magazine’ (a 1854 volume seen here) was a monthly publication edited Isabella Beeton who went on to produce her Book of Household Management in 1861.

Lovely selection from the Gresham Myth & Legend in Literature & Art series, the publication of which began in 1912. Haven’t seen any for a little while so was thrilled when they turned up. All in beautiful condition too. 😍

Lots more books in of late and will try and get them all featured, promise!
