Had a lovely drive through the Meon Valley today in this beautiful early autumn sunshine to deliver lots and lots of new stock to Sage and Salt Studio, lots of new bags, fingerless gloves, new Mens range made from old jackets, cufflinks, tweed acorn brooches, clasp purses, key fobs…combined with a lovely lunch with a good friend! 🐝

Its been a few years since I made these clasp purses. I decided I really wanted one, so started making again and realise how much I love them. I’ve started using cash more to make spending feel a more considered thing and there’s something about having precious money in a lovely purse that makes purchases feel more special, almost back to the days of having a purse full of pocket money you want to make last as long as possible! They are also big enough to hold cards, AirPods, lipsticks, jewellery when going away and so many other things!

A little bit more Autumn gorgeousness! 🍂 Needle felted and tweed brooches, with real acorn caps. They are super lightweight and perfect to add a pop of colour to a cardigan, jumper, coat, bag or scarf!

Slowly creeping into autumn 🍂…it seems slightly strange with this weather, but I couldn’t wait to get making with tweed again. I would say if I had to pick a favourite fabric tweed would be it. These beautiful fabric offcuts were kindly given to me by a lovely lady whose sister works in a fabric company and all the leather is small discarded offcuts from the Scrapstore. A new lease of life and so many possibilities. The only sad thing is when it’s gone it’s gone, but this little lot plus more will be off to stock Sage and Salt Studio | Art • Gifts • Creative Workshops soon……🐝.

There was a time not so long ago that craft skills were some of the most valuable as it was the only way people could get clothes, furniture, food etc…..the Greeks got it…Athena and Hephaestus…Goddess and God of Arts and Crafts…but also War and wisdom…and in Athens there is a huge temple dedicated entirely to Arts & Crafts…they were very wise those Greeks! 🤩

I won’t be making another one of these as it took me about 40 hours, but I will be selling the kits soon and running some beginners crochet classes at Sage & Salt Independent Art and Gift Gallery | Art & Craft Studios to learn how to make one. Watch this space 🐝

As well as us the Wessex Guild at Upham all weekend including Monday, there is also the incredible Southern Nature Art Exhibition in Wickham. A few of our members are also exhibiting there. It is an absolute must for anyone who loves Nature and the highest quality art and design you can see. What a weekend! 🤩🐝

Golly gosh..my bags are flying out! Up early and made this one this morning before I was dressed to take up to Hampshire Open Studios in a bit. Up cycled leather and fabric from Southampton Scrapstore with the most gorgeous William Morris lining. I’ve decided I need to make one of these for me too now…..to match the bin, key fob, glasses case and coin purse I made to match my new car in this fabric! I feel very lucky that in my job a get to indulge my slightly ocd nature for fabric and colour…..😊🐝
