ARMORTEK 1:6 SCALE MKIV - Male, Female… or both?

Our factory Mark IV has a Male sponson on the left, with its 6-pounder gun, and a Female sponson on the right, with machine guns only. In 1918 the Tank Corps did the same thing for real. Tanks with one of each were known as “hermaphrodites”, fitted so that machine-gun Females had a gun that could take on enemy tanks.

Hermaphrodites are well documented on the Mark V, but a Mark IV one is only recorded on trials.

Both sponson sets come in the kit, so you can build a Male, a Female or one of each.

Mark IV pre-orders open on the 19th Oct 2026.

ARMORTEK 1:6 scale MKIV - This is what real metal does.

These are photos of one of our 2015 Mark IVs. Nobody weathered the tracks with paint. That’s real rust, building up on the steel over the years, just as it did on the originals.

Every rivet and plate you see here is metal. Designed and made in the UK. The Mark IV returns in spring 2027, with both Male and Female sponsons in the kit and an updated brushless drive.

Male or Female? With our WW2 ARMORTEK 1:6 SCALE MKIV, you choose.

In 1917 the Male carried a 6-pounder gun in each sponson. The Female carried machine guns only, to deal with infantry. Both sponson sets come in the Armortek kit, so you can build either.

At Villers-Bretonneux on 24 April 1918, two Females and a Male met the German A7V ‘Nixe’ in the first tank-versus-tank action. The Females’ machine guns couldn’t hurt it, but the Male’s 6-pounders could.

So which would you build? Mark IV pre-orders open 19th October 2026
