Pencil sketch ✍️

Can you guess the owl? 🦉

Keep an eye out for updates to see the coloured pencil progress ☺️ prints and the original will be available when completed.

I’m often inspired by birds and animals and find myself gravitating to them often. Owls are incredibly beautiful and we are fortunate enough to hear several owls in Hartwood. We are certain we have at least 2 species - Barn and Tawny🤔 we are looking to provide some more wildlife cameras to Hartwood to allow you all to experience it too!

As a family of self- taught artist, we always like to try our hands at new things here at Hartwood Wild Crafts.

It helps with challenging ourselves to do something out of our comfort zones whilst opening up our creative mindsets more so than we ever thought possible.

We’ve always loved creating new things. It’s what made us create Hartwood Wild Crafts. Growing up we all hated the restrictions school would have on our art. You always had to stick to the rules, stay within the box, don’t do this, do that… not here. Here we create with heart, feeling and soul.
Everything we do, we do it for the freedom and authenticity.

Because of this, everything we do is made from hand. No two are ever the same and thats how we like it. The visual evidence of human hands creating raw pieces that make our customers smile. That’s what makes our crafts genuine and exciting.

First attempt at crochet - coleus plant with pot - with wire in the leaves to allow for movement, making it great for house decor and for those (like me..) that have a partial or no green thumb!

Would you like to see more crochet projects?
We might offer limited edition pieces in the future if the interest are there ☺️

Our first prototype of a puffin teaspoon holder, carved by Sarah and stained by Jade.

He makes a perfect companion on your kitchen side whether he’s dedicated to a teaspoon rest for your brew or a spoon for your sugar or salt. He’s versatile, useful and very cute!

What animal suggestions would you love to see as spoon rests?

Working on an A3 coloured pencil piece with different species of butterfly in the uk/ Scotland inspired by entomology.

I have 4 more to work on but this is the progress so far with dealing with creative blocks. Small pieces like this can feel less intimidating to start with. Each butterfly takes 10 hours to complete - so far it’s taken 50 hours to draw 5 ☺️

The spring is a perfect time to get some vitamin D and some quality inspiration.

Do you have a favourite butterfly? 🦋

Inspiration is always around every leaf, trunk and petal here at Hartwood. Everywhere you look, you’ll always find a friend, big or small. Nature is our comfort blanket, and it’s lovely what a bit of rain and Sun can do for our ecosystems 🪲🌲🌳🪾

I love that it provides a friendly reminder to breathe, to take in the fresh air and makes me thankful for even the smallest of things.

What do you love most about the spring?
