Most people love David Attenborough (who I do love) but the David for me has always been David Jason ❤️ talking lots of sense about the high street…online shopping is great, but it doesn’t ask you how you day is, or how your family or gives you a hug when you need one!! Let’s get the high street back to how it was and build the community our lovely country is known for!!

Sir David Jason says the decline of Britain’s high street has cost us more than just shops – it’s taken away a real sense of community.

Looking back on his time playing Granville in Open All Hours, Sir David reflected on how much shopping has changed over the years. He said small independent shops are now “hanging on by the skin of their teeth” as online shopping and home deliveries continue to change the way we buy things.

He pointed out that these days almost anything can be delivered to your door overnight, but believes something has been lost along the way. As he put it: “The whole dynamic is slowly moving away from the shop in the high street. And that’s very sad.”

For many people, the local butcher, baker, greengrocer or corner shop wasn’t just somewhere to buy food. It was where you stopped for a chat, caught up with neighbours and got to know the people behind the counter. That’s exactly the kind of community spirit Open All Hours captured so well, and one Sir David feels is gradually disappearing.

Of course, online shopping has made life easier in many ways, and there’s no denying the convenience. But Sir David’s comments have clearly struck a chord with plenty of people who miss the character and atmosphere that once made Britain’s high streets feel so special.

Morning my lovely bunch of people!! Just another honestly post!! 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 as many of you know the road from Lightwater to windlesham has been shut this week and will be for another four weeks!! We have felt the difference this week and of course the council don’t care!! Please if you can continue to support us and thank to everyone who has!! I follow lots of small independents online and they are dealing with roadworks etc that effects them greatly and it’s so unfair!! So if you can come visit us or shop online for our lovely candles and thank you to everyone who has as we appreciate you so much!!! ❤️❤️❤️
