Back open today (Friday) with a refreshed September look, clothing, vintage, vinyl and another big drop of CDs.

Its the wonderful Wirksworth Arts Festival this weekend of course when the town truly comes to a creative peak. I hope all visitors have a thoroughly lovely time at this amazing event.

Attending the Arts Festival for the first time in 2012 was the moment I knew that I could very happily spend more time in this special place. I feel incredibly fortunate that for the past four and a half years I have been able to do exactly that, running my little retro shop, meeting people and learning along the way πŸ’›πŸ™πŸ˜Š

The shop is open as usual on Saturday 9am-5pm and I'll open an hour earlier than usual on Sunday - at 10am (till 5pm).

Have a brilliant weekend!

September remerchandising is in full swing here at Red Brick Retro! I'd hoped to be back open tomorrow (Thursday), but an extra day is required to do things properly so I will now remain closed on Thursday and then reopen on Friday. At 11am. Apologies if this causes any inconvenience, hopefully the new look and new stock (including the first drop of autumn/winter clothing) will make it worth it!

Then of course its the Wirksworth Festival Art & Architecture Trail weekend, taking place right across town. The shop will be open 9am-5pm Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

Right, I'd better get back to work... see you soon, and thank you πŸ™πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

If you're ever so slightly feeling those back to school/back to work and days-gettng-slightly-shorter vibes, fear not, its Farmer's Market this Saturday in town, and here at Red Brick Retro there's a ton of newly-added physical media to keep you entertained this coming week, including tapes, CDs, vinyl, DVDs and books.

Plus, if I may - another little reminder that next Thursday will see the initial drop of autumn-winter wear here at the shop - that's just ahead of the start of

We look forward to seeing you this September, doors open 9am Saturday till 5pm, and Sunday its 11am-5pm πŸ˜ŠπŸ’›πŸ™

Autumn is clearly just round the corner, and since it's my favourite time of year, I'm super-motivated to get the shop looking at its shiny best for the new season, which means lots of new stock and a good old refresh. As promised, the clothing department will increase in size again, and for the first time, I hope to be able to offer trying-on facilties. Roll-out of the new autumn/winter clothing will take place in two phases:

🧑Thursday 10th September will see the launch of a limited collection of some lovely pieces. That date is just ahead of the ever-lovely and popular , so if you want first dibs before the busy Arts & Architecture Trail weekend, do pop in next Thursday or Friday;

🧑then the full launch of autumn/winter stock will take place from Thursday 17th September. Lots of hand-picked knits, denim, Barbour jackets and more all on the way...

Please note the shop will be closed on Wednesday 9th and Wednesday 16th September to allow for remerchandising.

Other plans for the autumn season include an enlarged section of fantasy, sci-fi and horror books and more prominent "new in" sections across all the physical media formats, making it easier for regulars to go straight to the latest stock.

And indeed there's lots of physical media arriving this weekend, in time for Artisan Market on Saturday, which I'll do a separate post about on Friday.

Phew, Autumn! We love you, and you sure keep us busy! 🧑😊🧑

Its been a very productive week of restocking and refreshing the shop following on from the super-busy Antiques on the Street event last weekend.

Here are some lovely pictures of the shop looking ship-shape once more 🚒🫑😊

We'll be open as usual on Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 11am-5pm. Bank Holiday Monday will be a rest day for me (well, once I've been to a couple of boot sales in the morning, no doubt!)

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the rain as well as the shine πŸ’›πŸŒ§β˜€οΈ

Back to the Future...

After a slightly difficult month for me with a bad back, I'm super-glad to say that it is much better now, and this weekend the new-in vinyl section is getting some much-needed ❀️ with an excellent collection of '60s, '70s and '80s records landing, including Kate Bush, Japan, Depeche Mode, Sade, Love, Dire Straits, The Police, Wings and lots more classics!

Also, less exciting possibly but hopefully of real long-term benefit to the shop, i spent the early part of this week (with the help of my sister) having a huge clear-out in the backroom of old stock and old stuff that had been sitting around for far too long, and, for the first time since moving to this shop nearly 18 months ago, creating a proper, dedicated work area just behind the shopfloor. When I'm working in this new spot I'm still able to see and say hello to everyone as they come in and, of course, will hop up to the counter when you want serving, or to ask a question, or a good old chat (always up for all of those!). But it feels good to have created this new area - especially with a nice, comfy office chair - to work from when its quiet, researching and prepping new stock, just as I've done yesterday and today with the vinyl that's now heading your way this weekend.

Wirksworth Farmers' Market Antiques on the Street event is also back on Sunday (always a lovely, popular event) so if you want first dibbs on any of the vinyl pictured, do try and pop along on Saturday.

Right, that's enough back news from me... i'll be er, back open from 9am to 5pm tomorrow (Saturday) and 9am to 4pm for the Antiques Sunday.

Lovely run of Beatles EPs and 7" singles, plus a large selection of other mainly '60s and '70s singles (including Rolling Stones, Elton John, Mamas and Papas, Elvis, T Rex and many more), plus a totally cool pair of vintage Levi's cowboy boots are among the highlights new in the shop this weekend.

Saturday also sees the return of the monthly Wirksworth Farmers' Market, so loads of reasons for a wander round town 😊

Opening at 12 (till 5) today. Been struggling with a bad back the past week, but determined to keep open as it's actually better when I'm pottering round the shop! But apologies for any inconvenience caused. Hopefully it will get better soon!
