Every day is a school day… even when dealing with uv direct-to-substrate printers! 😂👟
With one of our directors identical twin-boys heading back to school, we decided to put the artisJet UV printer to another slightly unusual test — printing their names directly onto the straps of their new black school shoes.

Being identical twins, they’re regularly mixed up by friends, other parents and even teachers… so surely there can be no excuses now! 😂
Although knowing these two, we wouldn’t put it past them to swap a shoe each just to cause even more confusion! 👟↔️👟
There was also a little lesson for Dad along the way…
One of Mason’s shoes somehow ended up being printed upside down! 🤦♂️
But as the saying goes, every day is a school day, and sometimes learning from your mistakes gives you the biggest learning curve.
After a bit of experimentation and some artisJet magic, we managed to rectify it — and looking at the finished pair, you’d never know.
It’s a bit of fun, but it also demonstrates the huge possibilities of direct-to-object UV printing. Crisp white ink printed directly onto a finished black shoe strap — no transfer, no label and a completely personalised result.
That’s exactly why we keep experimenting at Elmstok. If it fits on the printer, we’re probably going to try printing on it!
