The Story Behind Sparky ❤️🐉

People keep asking me…

“Where did Sparky come from?”

The truth is… he came from my gorgeous boy, Jamie.

When Jamie was little, I always used to say he had a fizzy head.

His brain never seemed to stop.

Ideas.

Questions.

Energy.

Curiosity.

One minute he was building a den, the next he’d be rescuing a worm, then asking me seventeen questions before I’d answered the first one.

He was never naughty.

Never difficult.

He was just… Jamie.

Completely, wonderfully, brilliantly Jamie.

I loved that little boy to within an inch of his life, and I still do.

Now he’s a grown man.

His head is still fizzy.

His heart is still enormous.

And he’ll always be my little boy.

That’s where Sparky was born.

Not from a diagnosis.

Not from a label.

From love.

From wanting every child with a busy, wonderful mind to know they’re exactly who they’re meant to be.

Sometimes he starts one thing and forgets what he was doing.

Sometimes he feels different from everyone else.

And sometimes the world can feel a little bit confusing.

But with the help of Mrs Dragon and his friends, Sparky learns something very important…

This book was written for children aged 3 to 8, but if I’m honest, I think plenty of grown ups will see a little bit of themselves in Sparky too.

Right… I can’t quite believe I’m typing this…

Sparky’s story is nearly here. 🐉✨

After months of writing, tweaking, reading it back, changing bits, crying a bit, laughing a lot…
Mrs Dragon and Sparky’s Fizzy Head is almost ready.

And when I say almost…
I mean it should be landing on Amazon in the next couple of weeks 😭

This one feels different.

Because Sparky isn’t just a character.
He’s inspired by someone very special to me.
A big heart. A busy mind. A little bit of chaos and a whole lot of magic.

This book is for every child who feels a bit “too much” sometimes.
Too busy. Too loud. Too full of thoughts.

And for every parent sat there thinking…
“Is this normal?”
“Am I doing this right?”

You are. And they are perfect.

I wanted to create something that says…
