Ed’s Top Tips for Building the Perfect Solid Bag
Get your solid bags tight, compact, and fishing perfectly every time, here are Ed’s go‑to tips:

1️⃣ Start with a good‑quality solid bag, Ed prefers the extra small for maximum neatness.
2️⃣ Use small pellets and powder to fill every gap and keep the bag compact.
3️⃣ Secure the bag with PVA tape so it stays tight and streamlined.
4️⃣ Keep the lead at the back of the bag for the best presentation on the lakebed.
5️⃣ Trim away any excess material to keep everything tidy.
6️⃣ Lick and stick all the corners for a proper sealed finish.
7️⃣ Add a small amount of liquid on the opposite side of the lead to help it sink and settle perfectly.

Dial these in and your solid bags will fish spot‑on every single time.

Something a little different for this weekend.
He and his little boy headed to Chard Reservoir and what a weekend it turned out to be. The action was nonstop, with double and even triple takes rolling in throughout the session. They finished with 30 fish, including five twenties up to 25lb. To say his lad loved it would be an understatement… some amazing memories made that he won’t forget anytime soon.

Jason relied on his ever‑faithful Slip‑D Ronnie, built with Commando Tackle components, fishing a snowman made up of a 15mm Bug hard ho**er and 12mm PB pop‑up over a big bed of 12/15mm Bug, tigers, Bug Spod Syrup, and Bug Smoke.

A weekend to remember for the both of them.

Ed talks us through our First Field Dressing on an incredible Sandhurst Lake mirror.

Made with a natural propolis blend, this dressing forms a protective seal over the affected area, helping reduce infection risk and supporting faster healing. Whether it’s a minor hook point mark or a bigger knock from a hard fight, this is the bottle you want in your tackle bag.

🎣 Protect the fish. Respect the fish. Look after the fish.

Ste Bale enjoyed a quality session, with the biggest of the bunch being a proper target fish Apple Slice at 29lb. Most of the carp were over 20lb, backed up by two upper doubles, making it a seriously productive trip.

He fished 23 wraps to a well‑worked spot, baiting with boilies and pellets, and presenting a Cherry Bakewell wafter over the top. The rig game was rock solid, running Dagger Wide Gape hooks, a soft hooklink, plus Micro Ring Swivels and Hook Stops to finish the presentation.

A tidy bit of angling and a cracking result for Ste.

What was meant to be a chilled 24‑hour social quickly turned into one Shaun won’t forget. The first bite came within 20 minutes, and then all hell broke loose with a full triple take that turned the swim into absolute chaos.

Across the session Shaun landed 4 carp, all on RGBaits Red Sea Squid boilies, pellet, liquids and the Hot Shrimp & Liver bag mix.

The biggest on a Multi Rig with a Size 4 Commando Stretched Curve hook.

The triple take produced:
A mint linear
A lively little mirror
And a dark, hard‑fighting common.

Huge shout to Vince the Carp Hunter for helping manage the carnage one fish in the net, another melting off, and a third joining the party before the alarms were even switched on.

Confidence was sky‑high in the Commando Tackle components and RGBaits doing the business yet again. Sometimes the sessions you expect nothing from end up being the ones you remember.

Across a full 72 hours on Hardwick & Smiths for the 4th REME Corps Team Qualifying Event, Megan put in a solid shift, picking up 8 runs and landing 6 stunning carp between 10lb 14oz and 29lb 9oz.

Every fish came to her spinner rig armed with Stretch Curve Dagger size 6 hooks and double orange plastic pop‑up corn, all fished over a rich bait mix of soaked boilies, corn, h**p, tiger nuts and mini pellets.

She worked two productive spots:
11¾ wraps
25 wraps tight to the margin

Her results secured qualification for the upcoming Inter Corps Championship, rounding off a strong and well‑deserved session.
