Wow! The support on this post is truly overwhelming and we are so grateful 😭🩷

😂💐 RIGHT… I’ve just read this story and I’m sorry, but I am absolutely TEAM FLORIST on this one.
Apparently a Love Island winner went into an independent florist, spent £20 on a bouquet, then took to social media to describe it as “pathetic.”

Pathetic?! 😂

I’ve seen the bouquet. For £20, there was absolutely nothing wrong with it!

Here’s a wee secret about florists that apparently needs explaining…

When you spend £20, the florist doesn’t take £20, skip through the shop and stick it straight in her purse. 😂

There’s the flowers.
The foliage.
The wrapping.
The ribbon.
The staff.
The rent.
The electricity.
The VAT.
The wastage.
And the actual skill and years of experience of the person making it.

And after all that…

YOU SPENT £20, SON. 😂😂😂

You can’t walk into an independent florist with twenty quid and expect them to recreate the hanging gardens of bloody Babylon.

And considering you’ve won Love Island and presumably have a few more pennies kicking about than the average person… maybe instead of secretly filming a small independent business and slagging them off online…

dig a wee bit deeper into your pocket. 😂

Florists aren’t magicians. Although, to be fair, with what we manage to produce from some of the budgets we’re given…

we’re no far bloody off it. 😂🌸

If you’re new here, hello! Here’s a little roundup of who we are and what we do 🥰

When it comes to flowers, no ask is too big or small! We love dealing with day to day florals as much as we love getting creative and receiving a brief for something crazy and different.

No two days are the same at our shop, but one things for certain - everything we do, we do with love! (Lol it’s cliche but it’s true okay!!!!)

Anyway, whether you’re new here or whether you’re a long time follower…well, thanks for being here. We appreciate you all 🩷

We wanted to take a moment after the chaos of the last few days to say a massive, genuine and heartfelt thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has shown us an incredible amount of love and support. Other local businesses, loyal customers, the floristry community, the press, and even complete strangers from the other side of the world. It’s been completely overwhelming to be honest, not to mention absolutely unexpected.

At the heart of all this is a small, family run business, defending our livelihood and that of other small, independent businesses too. We are passionate about supporting and empowering these businesses - we even went to 10 Downing Street last Christmas to represent the plight of small businesses across the UK. So it doesn’t matter who or where it comes from, when we see something that isn’t right we will always challenge it and try to educate on it.

Education was most important here. So many people think that being a florist is just shoving some pretty flowers together, and why should that warrant any kind of cost? Wrong! It takes years to hone our craft and develop our skills. It’s gruelling hours, you’re on your feet all day, your hands get sore, you’re at the mercy of your suppliers…but at the end of it all, someone gets a gift that makes them smile. Something WE made makes someone feel better. And that’s exactly why we love what we do, and we wouldn’t want it any other way! All we want to do is remind people to value our time and our work.

We hope that people now know a little more about why small businesses and specifically florists charge what they do, about why supermarket flowers are cheaper and about why it’s so important to support your local florist (and other independent businesses!)

Hello and welcome to all our new followers… we hope you enjoy seeing our beautiful work, our crazy family behind the scenes and - best of all - our male florist Dom climbing up and down ladders. That truly seems to be what you guys want to see.
