We have a beautiful copy of the 'Poets of the Woods. Twelve pictures of English songbirds' A book of verse including Keats and Coleridge beautifully illustrated by the renound German artist Josef Wolf who worked from 1848 at the British museum and become the go to artist for explorers and naturalists including David Livingstone. His watetcolour illustrations were printed by M + N Hanhart who specialised in colourisation and who were in high demand between the years 1839-1882.
A lovely copy with all pages intact it has a little foxing but overall a lovely copy. £199.00 available in our collectables cabinet now.

Updated books in the shop cabinet, including a lovely Folio edition of Graham Greene novels and Thomas Fella's ' Book of Divers (diverse) Devices and Sorts of Pictures' a facimile from the original late 16 century original, documenting everyday life in early modern England. A limited edition signed copy at £150 pounds.

A selection of the books available in the cabinet in the shop, including Gibbon's ' The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' A lovely Folio set, Gibbon originally published his work between 1776 and 1789, his central thesis that the Roman empire fell due to the embracing of Christianity proved controversial and he was condemned by critics. Priced very reasonably at 49.99.

Published by Frederick Muller in 1944 'Visionary Poems and Passages or the Poet's Eye' is a collection of poetry selected by Geoffrey Grigson (1905-85) British poet, editor, naturalist and husband to the cookery writer Jane Grigson. It features poets such as Alexander Pope, W.B. Yeats, George Crabbe and Edward Thomas amongs others and when written its aim was to shine a light on lesser known poets and poems as well. It contains 16 coloured lithographs by John Craxton(1922-2009).
A very good first edition, marred only by the first title page being removed, in our own protective jacket. £100. Available now.

Lovely copy of Ronald Blythe's Aftermath, a collection of his work from 1969-2010, signed and also enclosed a signed note from Blythe. He mentions meeting Adrian Bell in his youth, lovely item, £50.

Originally privately published by Lawrence in 1926, this is a first edition of the general publication of Seven Pillars of Wisdom, 1935. Sadly without its dust cover, only 6.99 in our collectables section of the shop. Full of excellent drawings of the principal figures in the story and maps, lovely.
