Happy Easter everyone, what a glorious day after that storm last night! Hope everyone is having a few chilled days. We have a whopping great leg of lamb to go in the oven and a nice bottle of red.

For years I have followed Rachel Ashwell. I love her blousy florals, chippy painted furniture in pastel hues, vintage chandeliers and foxed mirrors. She coined the phrase Shabby Chic, which was hijacked to the extreme by commercial ventures flogging us everything cupcake, stag, owl and garish floral.
She recently moved back to her native England from California and bought the quintessential English House. This beautiful book is about her journey to make Meadow Manor her own and is truly beautiful.
I'm thinking more Chateau Chic than Shabby.

At New Year, I wrote a post about my goals for this year. One of which was to focus on myself a little more. It has taken me until my 60s to understand that self care is not selfish.

So far, I have focused on my skin, which seemed to be aging faster than the rest of me and have had little triumphs with smoothness ( I say little 🙄) and even my jowls seem to be improving, with the help of collagen and a fabulous little wishbone shaped light gadget.

Two weeks ago, I started back on the Michael Moseley diet and am going great guns, 10lb down and feeling noticeably lighter already.
I am starting to believe that I may achieve my goal of ending the year in a better place emotionally and physically.

I have also changed tack a little with my business, taken a few 'risks' that I might not have in the past. Stopped worrying as much and have some real adventures planned for this year.

This weekend sees me back up in Howden, for the wonderful Spring event with . I shall be surrounded by lovely people and gorgeous items to tempt me. Happy times!

Can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings.

If you are in the area, join us at The Shire Hall, Howden, East Yorkshire. Door open at 10am , free entry.

P.S I hate photos of me, but this one is not too bad, for an old bird
