Hopwood Garden Centre Hopwood Garden Centre is a family run Garden Centre and Nursery in Hopwood, South Birmingham. We pride ourselves on the personal touch.

The business has been in the family for over 30 years, and now run by Peter and Lyn. The business originally started from a keen family interest in gardening to today's complete garden centre. If you want a leisurely peruse and honest advise, we are the people for you.

🌸 Autumn doesn't have to mean a boring garden…

When summer colour starts to fade, this is when plants like heathers and evergreens really earn their place in the garden. 🌿

Our current selection has plenty of lovely autumn shades, from soft pinks and purples through to deep reds, alongside evergreen foliage to keep things looking interesting throughout the colder months.

🌸 Heathers are brilliant for adding a splash of colour to:

🌿 Rockeries
🌱 Borders
🌳 Around trees and shrubs

And they look particularly lovely planted together in a mixture of colours.

🌿 Bring a little woodland magic into your garden…

If you're looking for plants that can add that lovely lush, leafy, woodland feel, don't overlook ferns! 🌿

We have a great selection of different ferns in stock at the moment, with all sorts of shapes, textures and shades of green.

They're particularly useful for those shadier areas of the garden where some flowering plants can struggle — and they look fantastic planted underneath trees, alongside paths or tucked into a shady border.

🌿 Top tip: Ferns generally prefer a spot that's sheltered from strong sunlight and kept reasonably moist, making them perfect for creating that natural woodland look.

And let's face it… with the amount of rain we've had lately, the ferns are probably feeling right at home! 😂🌧️

There’s something rather special about Japanese Maples as we head towards autumn. 🌿🍁

Those delicate leaves might look pretty all summer, but when the seasons start to change, they really come into their own — bringing gorgeous shades of green, golden yellow, orange, bronze and fiery red to the garden.

And just look at the range we have in at the moment! 😍

Whether you're looking for a compact tree for a patio, something to brighten up a border, or simply fancy adding a bit of autumn drama to your garden, Japanese Maples are well worth a look.

🌱 Acer palmatum are particularly lovely for adding structure and seasonal colour without taking over the garden.

We've got a lovely selection of autumn bedding plants at Hopwood Garden Centre, including:

We've got a fantastic selection of fruit trees at Hopwood Garden Centre, including apples, pears, plums and more.

🍂 Autumn is a great time to get many hardy fruit trees planted, giving them time to establish before spring.

Planting a fruit tree is one of those garden jobs that keeps giving — beautiful blossom in spring, then the excitement of watching your fruit develop through the year. And, of course… getting to eat it! 😋

🤍 JUST LOOK AT THOSE FLOWER HEADS!

Our Hydrangeas are looking absolutely gorgeous right now. 🌿

Those huge, full flower heads in beautiful soft creamy and green shades are bringing a lovely autumn feel to the garden. (we also have other colours available too 🥰)

And one of the things we love about Hydrangeas is that they're not just a summer plant.
As the season changes, their flowers can develop beautiful muted tones, giving you plenty of interest as we head into autumn.

We've had a beautiful selection of Wisteria arrive at Hopwood Garden Centre. 🌿

Wisteria is a fantastic choice if you're looking for a plant that can eventually create a real wow-factor display, climbing over walls, pergolas, arches and other sturdy supports.

We've got several varieties to choose from, so if you've been dreaming of that gorgeous cascade of Wisteria flowers, now is a great time to come and have a look.

🌿 A little Wisteria tip:-
It needs a strong permanent support and benefits from regular pruning and training to keep it looking its best.

🌧️ IT'S OFFICIAL!!

THE ENGLISH WEATHER HAS BEEN RESTORED TO ITS FACTORY SETTINGS! 🇬🇧😂

After a long, hot and very dry summer… THE RAIN HAS ARRIVED! 🌧️

Our gardens are absolutely loving it. 🌱💦 After months of sunshine, they’re finally getting the drink they’ve been begging for!

And with the soil nicely watered, now is the perfect time to get planting! 🍂🌱
