When old glassware is discarded into our seas and oceans, the waves and currents tumble it smooth. It can take decades or even centuries in this natural recycling swirl for glass to become ‘sea glass’. Beautifully frosted in its appearance, these rare gems are then revealed to beachcombers at each low tide.

West Coast Sea Glass would like to share their ‘happy dance’ finds and have a small number of curiosities for sale.

Sea glass is generally considered to be a good luck charm and is associated with renewal, healing, and strength. Our items include the following colours and symbolism:

* Aqua - Some believe that aqua sea glass is treasured by mermaids and is a good luck talisman. Aqua is also said to have water properties that can cool the temper and help the wearer remain calm.
* Green - Green sea glass is said to be associated with endurance, healing, and protection. Green is also said to have the ability to calm and alleviate stress.
* Friendship - Some say that sea glass is a symbol of friendship, as each piece of sea glass is unique, just like every friendship.
* Strength and survival - Some say that a well-worn piece of sea glass is a testament to strength and survival.
