“Whenever I enter a local bookshop I know something is going to happen. It will involve a book, of course. But it will also involve a ritual of a kind, a process of choosing. I’ll leave with something I didn’t have before and that is exciting.”
- Rachel Joyce

Come help us celebrate on Saturday!

Books Are My Bag

Time to make some space for new books on your shelves at home? Please consider donating your old children’s books to Read With Me.

Does your bookshelf look a little something like this?📚

We're currently welcoming donations of good quality pre-loved books, in particular picture books for younger children.

We have a collection point at the Civic Centre in Wotton-under-Edge - open weekday mornings for donations. Thank you!

Earlier this year we took part in the Indie Chaos Cup with publisher Simon & Schuster UK. You may remember the video we created with local Skandar superfans! 🦄

We are absolutely delighted to announce that we won the £1000 prize and the chaos cup! Huge thanks go to all the children and families who came to help us film and who spoke about Skandar with so much love and enthusiasm. 🏆

When we decided to take part in the Indie Chaos Cup, we knew that we would want to donate any winnings to our fabulous local literacy charity Read With Me. Read With Me send volunteers into Gloucestershire schools to read with children, and at Christmas they donate free wrapped books to children too. 📚

So, here we are with our giant cheque and a group of lovely Read With Me volunteers. Thank you all for coming in, and, of course, everything you do for our children. ♥️

We were at the Gardners trade show yesterday seeing what goodies publishers have in store for us for Christmas and into next year.

We saw lots of gorgeous books and came away with many proofs to read and give away 👀

As always a fab time was had chatting to like-minded book people ♥️📚

Sometimes the bookshop releases us into the wild to see other bookshops and attend author events. Last night Cath saw the lovely Helen Peters launch her new (gently spooky) book A Cat Called Cobweb.

As you can see by Cath's face, she had an absolutely wonderful time. Helen is one of our favourite children's authors and she certainly knows how to put on an event.

Congrats Helen!

Swipe to the end for a tasty treat!

Autumn is in the air and in our shop. Come on in out of the drizzle and find yourself a cosy read.

🍂🍂🍂

If you look closely at our autumn bunting, you will see that we have reused the leaves that decorated our Wainwright Prize display in the summer.

It’s time to introduce Ballet Shoes to the next generation. This beautifully illustrated adaptation has just arrived in the shop. We have Eve Coy to thank for such a gorgeous book. We will be running an event with Eve soon so watch this space. In the meantime, here’s a little taster of the book 🥰
