Thank you to the terrific Patakas for joining us at the end of September! It was so wonderful to have such a lovely and talented duo in - if you didn’t have a chance to see them here, go check out their music now, we can’t recommend them enough!

We’ve got one final Oak Folk performance this year with James Dixon on October 16th (check out the last slide with a little preview of what to look forward to!). This evening has now sold out, but we are running a waiting list if you’re still hoping to get a ticket. VIRTUAL BOOK GROUP UPDATE

Did you know we run a monthly book group over Zoom? We understand there are lots of reasons you might not be able to attend an in-person book club, but if you’re still looking for a way to discuss great books with great people, this might be the solution.

Our Zoom book group takes place every 3rd Wednesday of the month, and now starts at 1pm. It’s completely free to join and we currently have spaces available, so if you’re interested in joining or have any questions about how it works, please send us an email at [email protected] for more information.

ACOTAR 6 MIDNIGHT LAUNCH EVENT - 26/11/26

We’ve got titles! We’ve got blurbs and covers! We’ve got teaser quotes that have us rushing to our group chats to discuss!

Thank you so much for the fantastic response to our midnight launch event so far! We are very excited to tell you about another event if you’re looking to fill your day with ACOTAR-based entertainment - the lovely folks at The White Hart will be throwing an ACOTAR-themed quiz between 8-11pm on October 26th, so if you’re booked in with us for the midnight launch, you can put your knowledge to the test and ensure you’re all caught up with the story so far!

For more information about the quiz, please contact the White Hart directly. We have extremely limited tickets left for the midnight launch at the bookshop, so please grab your tickets as soon as possible if you’d like to join. As we are a very small bookshop, admission to this event is by booking only, so please do not turn up at 11pm without reserving your space as we will regrettably not be able to accommodate you.

AUTHOR EVENT - HEIDI SWAIN 8/10/26

It’s one week until we welcome the wonderful Heidi Swain to the bookshop for a conversation on all things cosy, romantic and autumnal!

We’ll be discussing Heidi’s latest novel, Falling for You, a deeply wholesome seasonal romance revolving around the community-focused inhabitants of Nightingale Square in Norwich. It’s always lovely to have events with books set in East Anglia, but we’re especially excited to discuss a novel that does such a great job at exploring how much community projects and volunteers add to our local spaces!

We have very limited tickets left for this event, so if you’re looking for a great evening out next week, do reserve your space on our website or in the shop now.

Today marks three years since we opened the doors to our beautiful Market Place location, so we thought we’d celebrate by giving you a look at how far we’ve come in that time! The “before” photos were all taken the day we first got the keys, and while we remember how exiting it was, we can also reflect on what a huge task we had taken on in that moment. Lucky for us, we were surrounded by a brilliant bunch of people, and while we knew we didn’t have an easy journey ahead of us, being surrounded by friends made the whole thing just a little less daunting.

These pictures are just a tiny snapshot - it’s hard to capture just how much time and energy everyone involved has dedicated to ensure we can keep Kett’s Books for good. So, next time you’re in the shop and you look at all the beautiful shelves filled with books, we hope it’s heartening to know your community is full of passionate, caring people.

OAK FOLK - JAMES DIXON 16/10/26

We’re very excited to welcome James Dixon in October as our final Oak Folk event of 2026! It’s been an incredible year of live performance at Kett’s Books, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have James join us next month to finish off the music programme this year.

We have extremely limited tickets left for this event, so make sure you book your space as soon as you can. We’ll also be running a waitlist once we’re sold out, so you can always email [email protected] if you miss your chance the first time round.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Ellingworth Prize presentation last week with our wonderful winner, Laurence Mitchell .

It was so lovely to hear from Laurence about his writing process and research for Flint Country, as well as hear firsthand how far reaching and important Flint has been in East Anglia and beyond. If you’re interested in learning more about this fascinating mineral and its impact, we’d highly recommend picking up Flint country.

AUTHOR EVENT - LOUIS DE BERNIERES 19/10/26

We’re excited to welcome back bestselling author Louis de Bernieres on October 19th to discuss his new book, Smelling of Rooks. Gathering a decade of reflection, anecdotes and observations, Smelling of Rooks is a candid and comical collection about Louis’ life in rural Norfolk.

We’re always excited to welcome local authors and books about East Anglia, but we’re also thrilled that Smelling of Rooks is published by the amazing Cromer-based independent publisher Salt Books • Independent Publisher , so it really ticks all the boxes for showcasing how incredible the literature scene in Norfolk is!

Copies of Smelling of Rooks will be in the shop from September 21st, alongside Louis’ impressive list of already published novels, and will also be available to purchase at the event. This is a free evening of entertainment, but please visit our website (link in bio) to reserve your space now.
