Our haberdashery department is looking a little empty. If you have any spare: dressmaking pins, sewing needles, bias binding, elastic, ribbon, lace, scissors, pin cushions etc that you no longer require - please do think of us. Craft donations can be dropped off at any of our Big C shops.

What a beautiful idea. We have plenty of fabric if you fancy having a go. 💕

Our Palliative care team are in need of more fabric bag donations for use as patient syringe driver bags and bereavement bags. We ask that syringe driver bags be in pretty, but muted fabrics, with measurements of L 27.5cm x W 20.5cm. For the bereavement bags we ask that they are in similar fabrics but in sizes ranging from A3, A2 & A1 (like the stationary paper sizes).

Alex Watson, NNUH Palliative Care Memory Maker, said: “The syringe driver fabric bags help our patients, mainly palliative, feel more comfortable by providing a gentler casing to what can be a heavy or slightly intimidating piece of equipment.”

“Our fabric bereavement bags are for families to take home their loved ones' belongings in after they've passed away instead of the standard green plastic bags, which can often feel a little impersonal at such a difficult time.”
