Just to clear up an inaccuracy in some local reporting regarding our closure, our closure is not due to a back dated rent increase, the council were aware that they needed to increase our rent when it was reviewed this year. Unfortunately our rent was index linked to RPI and due to two years of very high inflation post COVID it meant the rent had to increase to a non sustainable level.

We felt there was no point trying to renegotiate as visitor numbers have been declining post COVID and for a small privately funded local history exhibition, visiting us was simply not on most households agenda in a climate of financial uncertainty our offering simply no longer works.

All of our collection is for auction on may the 19th at HRD Auction Rooms

Sadly we had made the decision that this year would be our last at the museum, increasing costs and dwindling tourists meant it's no longer viable, we planned to see the season out but Easter figures showed we didn't have that luxury..

So if anyone wants a 9ft dragon, fibre glass pirates, a steampunk man, a tarot reader, a mermaid, vintage penny arcade machines etc the quirky nonsense is all being auctioned off on the 19th of May by HRD Auction Rooms check out their page and website www.hrdauctionrooms.co.uk
