A week today and the shipping company will be here packing everything up. And by the sounds of things, there is a shortage of empty shipping containers so our belongings could be sat in Calgary up to 3 months before they even set off.
With a move like this, you have to decide what’s worth the wait and what you are going to need at the other end before your worldly goods arrive.
So most of our furniture has been sold or donated, which is upsetting seeing it go, but on the other hand it’s going to be exciting finding replacements. As long as their lead times aren’t as crazy as the container’s.
We now have a room designated to just belongings we are taking with us on the flights, stuff for the cats for the kennels, and cleaning products that we’ll need to clean our home before we close the door one last time.
Basically, all the things that you don’t want the team packing up. Especially your personal belongings like jewelry, precious photos, and paperwork you’ll need both for getting there and also for setting up a bank account/mortgage. I’ve got Benji’s ashes too with documentation required by airport security.
My head has been spinning for a good few months now but we’re almost there. Two weeks today and we’ll have landed.
