Hello! 👋💕 I thought it was about time I introduced myself again…
We’ve had lots of lovely new followers recently, so if you’re new here - I’m Kathy, the lady behind Sewcialising in York! 🧵🧶
What started with me falling slightly madly in love with a very derelict old building has somehow grown into everything you see today… a fabric & craft shop, sewing studios, workshops, a holiday let and, most importantly, the loveliest creative community. 🥰
I’m happiest when I’m making something (although whether I actually finish it is another matter 🤣). Sewing will always be my first love, but crochet has well and truly got me too… along with yarn dyeing, Tunisian crochet and generally trying any craft that takes my fancy!
There have been lots of challenges, plenty of mess, a few questionable ideas 😂 and a LOT of learning along the way, but I’m incredibly proud of what Sewcialising has become.
And I absolutely couldn’t do any of it without our wonderful team and all of you who shop with us, come to our workshops, pop in for a chat, follow along online and support our little independent business. 💕

From Saturday 19 September, 70 ghostly sculptures will begin appearing across York city centre - in gardens, on balconies, along the city walls and in some rather unexpected places (Make sure you look up!)

This year’s Ghosts in the Gardens trail will be Yorks biggest yet, with ten brand-new ghosts joining some familiar faces from York’s past across more than 30 locations.

The trail is completely free to explore, so keep your eyes peeled as you wander through the city – and don’t forget to look up!
