💜 One of nature's most intriguing flowers... Passiflora 🌿

With its intricate, almost otherworldly blooms, it's easy to see why Passiflora (Passion Flower) is one of the most fascinating climbers. Every flower is a masterpiece, with striking petals, delicate filaments and a unique floral structure unlike almost anything else.

Its history is just as captivating. The name Passiflora, meaning "Passion Flower", was given by 16th-century Spanish missionaries in South America, who believed the flower's distinctive parts symbolised the Passion of Christ. The five anthers represented the five wounds, the three stigmas the nails of the crucifixion, and the crown-like filaments the crown of thorns.

Today, Passiflora is a popular choice for commercial and residential landscape schemes, bringing vertical interest, vibrant summer colour and a distinctive architectural element to walls, fences, pergolas and green infrastructure. Its nectar-rich flowers are also a valuable source of food for bees and other pollinators. 🐝

Today, we treated all our fantastic team to Yorkshire pudding wraps for lunch to celebrate everything we love about Yorkshire. 🥙💚

🌿 Throwback to our recent visit from Fira Landscape Architecture 🌿

It was a pleasure to welcome the team from Fira Landscape Architecture to our nursery, where they explored our extensive range of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, discussed current landscape trends and discovered how we've been helping to green the UK since 1921.

Founded over 50 years ago, Fira Landscape Architecture is an award-winning practice with studios in Birmingham and London. Their team specialises in creating inspiring, people-focused landscapes across the education, healthcare, public realm, workplace and masterplanning sectors, delivering projects throughout the UK and internationally.

Sharing knowledge and building relationships with landscape architects is something we're passionate about, and we always enjoy showcasing the quality, diversity and scale of the plants we grow.

Thank you to everyone at Fira for visiting—we hope you enjoyed your time with us, and we look forward to working together on future landscape projects.

🌿 Throwback Project Spotlight: Norfolk Gardens Park, Bradford 🌿

We're looking back at one of our recent favourite projects – Norfolk Gardens Park, where we were proud to supply over 23,000 plants for this impressive green space in the heart of Bradford. 🌳✨

Delivered by Gavin Jones Ltd for Balfour Beatty, in collaboration with Bradford Council, the 10,000m² park includes:
🌳 198 new trees
🌼 3,100m² of wildflower turf
🌱 2,000m² of traditional turf
🌸 A diverse mix of perennials, shrubs and hedging to provide year-round interest and support local wildlife.

Projects like this showcase the lasting impact that thoughtfully designed landscapes can have—creating greener, healthier spaces for communities to enjoy for years to come. 💚

We're proud to have played a part in bringing this fantastic project to life.

🦋 A Comma, Painted Lady and Large White (Cabbage White) all enjoying the nectar-rich blooms of Nepeta and Buddleia during the big butterfly count at our onsite cash & carry! 🌿💜

These pollinator-friendly favourites are a valuable food source for butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects, making them an excellent choice for commercial landscapes, public spaces and residential developments where biodiversity is a priority.
