Dearest friend….
If you’ve passed us at 42 Gillygate recently you may have noticed the Victorian desk in the window and wondered at the aesthetic change from snowhome’s traditions.
Well, welcome to our moment of at-home calm; perhaps even quiet contemplation. Come in - join us.
You find us sat writing a letter to a dear friend, or maybe our journal. Yes a moment about those thoughts and the feel and feedback of pen on paper, but one too about everything we can see, feel, smell, hear and maybe even taste during this tiny, our-time, respite of simply being.
That moment is what we are about - which is why the desk is distinctly not working-from-home ready.
As our eye draws back from the nib and line of wet ink we catch a glimpse of, what? A pencil case, the catchall tray with the cheery paper clips where we’ve placed a ring and watch while we write; a glass and a cheeky square or three of chocolate winking at us? Further, a vase of flowers, a plant, the card from mum, the shadow from a light shade? And then… a waft of scent - cologne? candle? balm? The feel of new socks and slippers on our feet; the smooth from today’s shave…?
Our imagined moment encompasses a huge variety of sensations and, of course, permits a wide variety of things. All are, we hope, mellow and slow: micro oases of calm for everyday.
Home. Life.
