Luckily I snaffled them before they went in the ground for a quick photo op!

I can’t help romanticise pieces like this. Years of daily use, pressing linens, now stepping back to just be.
Modern machines speed things up, but you can’t automate character. The simplicity and warm patina alone make it worth making space for. Personally, I’d like to give it house room as a bedside table or quiet accent in a hallway, but really, it could easily slip into any corner—living out a peaceful retirement now that irons do the heavy lifting.

I’ve spent months quietly reading on Substack, but I’ve finally started putting my own thoughts on the trade into words.

Current reader count: about 3 (and yes, one is my mum).

I’d love to connect with fellow dealers, collectors, and anyone who enjoys the stories behind art, antiques, renovations and anything in between.

If you’re writing over there, please leave a comment with what your Substack is about—I’d love to take a look and follow along.

And if you fancy reading what’s going on behind the scenes here, I publish a short piece every week. Link in bio if you’d like to wander over.
