Started another small collar using many pairs technique remeniscent of Cluny. I am still figuring things out with using this technique. As I am not using sewing links, the progress is much slower. And the pairs seem to have the mind of their own tryiing to overlap and entangle. I think I should have used a larger pillow to accomodate more pairs.

While browsing through National Old Lacers bulletin of 1976-77 came across this photo of Russian table cloth. Dimentsions 68"x86" (172cm x 218cm), ecru linen. Was bought in Leningrad in 1936. A little bit of social history. According to the parents of the owner, who purchased it " at that time in Russia it was possible to buy a treasure for virtually nothing". They paid $5 for it. These were the times of great social enaquality and poverty.

Did a bit of a work on a pattern I have not worked for a while. It was one of the first patterns that I managed to break up into steps. At the time I did not quite grasped the way of showing the links between the braids and since found another way. So in some places some pin-holes are a bit awkward. But overall it is workable.

The project that is near completion stage still "sits" on the pillow. Finishing stage is not my favourite stage and I find it at times a bit "scary". This is a Finish that I am not familiar with, when the edge of the braid does not meet its beginning but meets an edge of another braid. I have a video in mind to watch on You tube, but it does not answer all the questions. I do not quite know yet how to deal with the Gimp (rope) yet. Will have to think it over a bit. Most importantly I need to get into the zone "I am gonna do it". Most of the time it happens when I run out of pillows and need a pillow for a new project.

Well at the moment I am working on 3 projects. The one I working most of the time is a collar from the book by Belozerova. So I decided to take this book as the main teaching materia as it represents several lacemaking centres of Russia. This particula pattern looks quite simple on the technical sided of things. So I decided to spice it up with colour - using a three colour pallete. Using colour has forced me to adopt a slightly different use of stitches in the braid- using colour in this way meant that I would not be able to use the half-stitch and chosing a cloth stich with 2 twisted edge pairs instead of half-stitch meant adapting a different zig-zag width step. That means that I was putting pins as dictated by the braid but stil trying to land on the pin-holes indicated by the pattern. I was very glad when I turned the corner= finished half the collar and started working on the other half
