Lots of toasty wall tiles, awaiting being hung in collections on the walls of the shop.

I enjoy mark making on these thick slabs, I use combs, shells and various work tools to create the marks and inlay some of these with porcelain. The plan is to make some really big ones, to hang on the wall like canvases. But first I need to build a bigger kiln!

And just like that my favourite weekend of the year has been and gone. Thankyou from the bottom on my heart Wardlow Mires Pottery Festival for being my very favorite place. Each year tops the last with both the turn out, the exhibitors and the fun had. I was blessed with a fabulous neighbour Rowena Hamilton and has the immense pleasure of spending the weekend drinking c***r and b**r in a field with some of the best people. The list is too long but thanks all.
I already can’t wait until next year

A very busy first day Wardlow Mires Pottery Festival , thanks to all the people who stopped, chatted and bought from me today. If you want mugs then come early tomorrow as I’ve almost sold out!

Dinner plates out the kiln

A lovely selection of coastal classic dinner plates are coming with me to Wardlow Mires Pots For Food Festival this weekend.

They have been very popular in our shop in Helmsley, selling them as part of a dinner service or individually sold.

They are a real joy to make and hope if you take one home, you love using them.

Recently I’ve have the pleasure of working with Ella from ella nielsen | woodwork on spoons for various pieces. I’m getting a real thrill from combining materials and putting together yet more sets of things.

So now I have a very proper porcelain tea set complete with sugar bowl and spoon, aswell as the already very popular spice jars and spoons.

Thanks Ella! Wonder what else we can create!

A particularly yummy Estuary mug. Carbon trap and classic shino, celadon, fake ash iron glaze, real ash glaze. I love making these

I’ve recently been commissioned to make a very large (large for me) vase in this style and I’m excited to see how I can translate this only on a larger piece.
Let the development begin!

Okay people here we go! Instagram stories seconds sale will go live on my stories at 6pm on Sunday 2nd August.

I will share stories of all the work that is available with the price and all you need to do it reply to that story if you’d like to purchase it. Everything can be posted within the UK for £4.50 shipping.

These will all be SECONDS so that means there are slight imperfections with them and will be priced accordingly.

North Sea Blue large teapot. I use iron oxide to give a stormy finish to this dark blue glaze, reminiscent of long strands of kelp beneath dark seawater.
I’ve just finished a big batch of these teapots and I’ll be glazing them very soon!

Today’s video is showing how I trim the lids for my garlic jars. I haven’t yet trimmed the body but I use it as a sort of chuck to support the lid in place whilst I trim it. All the kids are thrown off the hump so I only need to trim one side of them and then add on a little thrown k**b.
