Odr custom instruments Nature decides, we build. Mother nature gives us insparation and shapes the materials that we are using for acoustic bodies like gourd and bamboo.

In Norse mythology, Óðr (Old Norse for the "Divine Madness,as a noun "mind, feeling" and also "song, poetry") associated with insparation. They are not symetrical and calculated, each one of them is naturally unique. We are making our instruments with nature friendly and vegan materials.

It was an unforgettable memory DiliRock Festival , in Dilijan, Armenia. I've met many beautiful people and musicians🎵

As Odr Instruments, I was in the market place and also gave recycle music instruments making masterclass. The fest continued for 3 days. Despite the weather conditions, it was so much fun and the energy with people never ended🤘🏻🌀🔥

In this video, you can listen to 1.6(E), 1.8(D-Standard), 1.9(Db), 2.1(B) and 2.2(Bb) size shakuhachi. The measurements calculated by the Japanese measurement system ( 1 Shaku= 30,303cm).

Fret levelling job for an electric guitar 🎸

When this guitar first came in, the frets were heavily worn down, causing intonation issues and affecting the overall playability of the instrument.

I levelled and dressed the frets to restore a more even playing surface and improve the guitar's intonation and feel. A proper fret setup can make a big difference in how comfortably and accurately an instrument plays.

Another guitar back in shape 🎸✨

The bridge had come loose from the soundboard, so I carefully removed it, cleaned and prepared the surfaces, then glued and reinstalled it in its original position with a homemade special jig.

A solid bridge-to-top connection is essential for both the structural stability of the guitar and efficient transfer of string vibration. Now it's securely back where it belongs and ready to play again! 🔨🎶

Replacement and reglue on Crafter Acoustic Guitar 🎸

This guitar came in with the bridge already lifting from the back edge. After removing it, the main issue became clear: the bridge had been glued onto the finish instead of directly onto the bare wood.

For a strong and long-lasting joint, the finish was carefully removed from the gluing surface, everything was cleaned up, and the bridge was reglued to the wood as it should have been from the beginning.

Sometimes a repair isn't just about putting a part back in place—it's about correcting what was done underneath. A proper glue joint means better structural integrity and a more reliable instrument for years to come.

Meet our beloved master Houzan Murata Sensei!

We spent a truly unforgettable couple of years with him in the countryside of Kyoto. We owe a great deal to his guidance, from the craft of shakuhachi making to the philosophy behind it.

From the moment we met, he welcomed us as part of his family. The experiences he had during his youth as a Komusō monk continue to shape every aspect of his life and work today.

Hōzan Murata has been an established senior shakuhachi maker and player in the Kyoto/Osaka area for decades. He performs regularly in major hogaku presentations, with Yamamoto Hõzan, the National Living Treasure, and Miyoshi Genzan, his life-long teacher, as well as having a busy teaching life. As a professional performer he engages with variety of genres. He performs for the Kyoto Minami-za Kabuki theatre, for major minyo concerts as well as performances in the Imperial villas. He travels to Brazil, the Lebanon, Taiwan and the US for concert tours. His flutes are in the hands of many of the most accomplished players in Japan, and now the world.

Hõzan Murata studied under Miyoshi Genzan from the unusually early age of 16. Age 19 he received his Junishihan license. Aged 22, he received his Shihan license and at Age 29, his Dai-shihan license.

In 1974 he spent 8 months traveling Japan on foot as a komuso. This was an important part of his spiritual path to shakuhachi and a great excuse to play shakuhachi all day long, every day.

He has made shakuhachi all his professional life, beginning in 1971 with four years of study under Tamai Chikusen, and another four years study with Nagahiro Shinzan from 1975.

Hõzan Murata has a strong signature style: his flutes are large bore and lightweight. He makes not only jiari flutes but also big bore jinashi chokan flutes of varying lengths. The jiari 1.8s are easy to blow and accommodate a lot of air pressure.
