Nature decides, we build. Mother nature gives us insparation and shapes the materials that we are using for acoustic bodies like gourd and bamboo.

In Norse mythology, Óðr (Old Norse for the "Divine Madness,as a noun "mind, feeling" and also "song, poetry") associated with insparation. They are not symetrical and calculated, each one of them is naturally unique. We are making our instruments with nature friendly and vegan materials.

Meet our beloved master Houzan Murata Sensei!

We spent a truly unforgettable couple of years with him in the countryside of Kyoto. We owe a great deal to his guidance, from the craft of shakuhachi making to the philosophy behind it.

From the moment we met, he welcomed us as part of his family. The experiences he had during his youth as a Komusō monk continue to shape every aspect of his life and work today.

Hōzan Murata has been an established senior shakuhachi maker and player in the Kyoto/Osaka area for decades. He performs regularly in major hogaku presentations, with Yamamoto Hõzan, the National Living Treasure, and Miyoshi Genzan, his life-long teacher, as well as having a busy teaching life. As a professional performer he engages with variety of genres. He performs for the Kyoto Minami-za Kabuki theatre, for major minyo concerts as well as performances in the Imperial villas. He travels to Brazil, the Lebanon, Taiwan and the US for concert tours. His flutes are in the hands of many of the most accomplished players in Japan, and now the world.

Hõzan Murata studied under Miyoshi Genzan from the unusually early age of 16. Age 19 he received his Junishihan license. Aged 22, he received his Shihan license and at Age 29, his Dai-shihan license.

In 1974 he spent 8 months traveling Japan on foot as a komuso. This was an important part of his spiritual path to shakuhachi and a great excuse to play shakuhachi all day long, every day.

He has made shakuhachi all his professional life, beginning in 1971 with four years of study under Tamai Chikusen, and another four years study with Nagahiro Shinzan from 1975.

Hõzan Murata has a strong signature style: his flutes are large bore and lightweight. He makes not only jiari flutes but also big bore jinashi chokan flutes of varying lengths. The jiari 1.8s are easy to blow and accommodate a lot of air pressure.

Uzu House Recycle Instruments Making workshop (30/05)♻️🎶

This time we dived into Uzu House's garbage to reveal the hidden melodies within them✨

We made bottle guitar, wind whistle, didley bow and tin can drum.
Again it was so much fun and thanks again to all the participants 🙏🏻

Recycle Music Instruments Making Workshop Art Residency!

In the workshop, we used materials from the garbage of art residency like plastic bottles, tin cans, shampoo bottles etc. 🧴🍾

We took them from their corners which nobody gave them attention and revived them as musical instruments such as ocarina, drum and bottle guitar♻️🌳🎶

Thanks to everyone who participated and became a part of this process! It was really fun! ✨

This time I had a Georgian folk instrument "Chonguri" on the table. It was made in a bad shape, no fine works and wrong wood choice for the neck..

The owner of this chonguri dear friend Diana also helped me in the process. We made more fine work for the peg head, lower the height of the nut, fix the problem with the peg which is inserted on the neck.⚒️

We were happy with the result. Thanks for the help 🙏🏻🤍🎶

Repair and maintenance are done for a classic guitar of !

When this guitar first came to me, the neck and body were separated and a cigarette package was holding the keyboard higher from body🙈 Inside the guitar, the sound braces were came off and bridge was also half separated from the top of the guitar.

I fixed the neck to the body and then glued the braces and bridge. Then it was needed to make adjustments to the frets since all the balance of neck and body was gone and for a long time this guitar didn't have proper maintenance.

Shakuhachi performance in their anniversary party!

We played some Japanese old folk songs including Tanko Bushi and everyone played Bon Odori with us 👘 We also played an old children's song Kagome and tea harvesting song with . In famous Japanese song Sakura, accompanied us..

Also special thanks to for her instructions about dance and game. It was really fun!✨🪈

Recycled Music Instruments Making Workshop ♻️🥁🪈

All the materials we used in this workshop were from the garbage of Pancholina. We made two different types of wind instruments with plastic bottles and one percussion instrument called cuica from the cardboard cups🌀

We made a lot of funny noises and it was really fun! Thank you to everyone who participated and became a part of this recreation process! 🌈✨🎶

Piano fixing and tuning work

There were some mechanic problems due to not having maintenance for a long time. One hammer was moving together with next one. And the problem was solved. There were other issues as well but it's a long story to tell :)
