Chapter Two Episode Three

Title: Are You In or Out?

Food for Thought: Until you step into your rightful place of destiny, you cannot access the fullness of what God has ordained for your life.

Subtitle: The Mystery of the Appointed Place Continued

They must have been hoping to return to their land multiplied with both human and material blessings, but that was far from their experience. Instead of multiplication, they gradually began to decrease, as death took a constant toll on them.

Of all four family members who embarked on the journey, only one remained alive.

Who knows what would have happened had the only surviving woman not made up her mind in time to leave the country and return home?

The family missed the divine location and consequently lost their divine security. This left them vulnerable and made them easy targets for the enemy.

Hear what Naomi said about her experience in that land:

Ruth 1:12–13:
“Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons; would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the Lord is gone out against me.”

When anyone misses out on divine location, their experience will always be as if the hand of the Lord is against them. This is because such a one is already sailing against the wind.

Let us look further at her description of what happened to her:

Ruth 1:19–21:
“So they two went until they came to Bethlehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?”

Naomi thought that the Almighty dealt bitterly with her. She did not realize that it was her being out of the divine location that made a mess of her destiny.

She went out full and came back empty because she did not pay attention to the details of the movement of the cloud.

Friend, there is a place allocated for you in destiny. If you have not located it, you will be missing out on the presence of God, and your experience could be like that of Naomi.

It is your responsibility, therefore, to locate your own appointed place and plug yourself into it. If you are not in your own appointed place, you are definitely without and far away from your God-ordained destiny.

This is too risky an adventure for you to experience.

It is my prayer that the God of all grace will open you up from today to receive the full revelation of your God-ordained place, which will lead you to the recovery of your divine allocation in Christ.

Chapter Two Episode Two

Title: Are You In or Out?

Food for Thought: Until you step into your rightful place of destiny, you cannot access the fullness of what God has ordained for your life.

Subtitle: The Mystery of the Appointed Place Continued

This same scenario was demonstrated by the children of Israel in the wilderness after they escaped from the hand of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.

The Bible makes clear that the children of Israel were led by the cloud by day and by the pillar of fire by night.

Exodus 13:21–22:
“And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.”

God certainly did this to keep them in the right location at all times. This explains why they were triumphant throughout the journey.

To ensure they remained in the right location at all times, God made them practically follow the cloud and the pillar of fire.

When it moved, they moved; when it stopped, they stopped. This is the secret to their constant victories throughout the journey.

There is also the pathetic story of a couple in the Bible who left for a land to which they were not sent, seeking greener pastures.

They relocated to this land with their two children. By this journey, the couple strayed from their divine location.

They could not follow the cloud like the children of Israel, and the consequence was devastating.

Follow me as we read the story told in the book of Ruth:

Ruth 1:1–5:
“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons. And the name of the man was Elimelech, and the name of his wife Naomi, and the name of his two sons Mahlon and Chilion, Ephrathites of Bethlehem-judah. And they came into the country of Moab, and continued there. And Elimelech, Naomi’s husband, died; and she was left, and her two sons. And they took them wives of the women of Moab; the name of the one was Orpah, and the name of the other Ruth: and they dwelled there about ten years. And Mahlon and Chilion died also, both of them; and the woman was left of her two sons and her husband.”

A family of four travelled out of their country due to the outbreak of famine and headed to Moab, without giving cognizance to the issue of divine location.

Within twenty years, the father and the two sons died, leaving only the wife and two daughters-in-law.

The family must have been full of expectation when deciding to proceed on the journey.

They wanted to escape from the famine ravaging their land, expecting a supernatural change of story that would lead them to a life of abundance.

Chapter Two Episode One

Title: Are You In or Out?

Food for Thought: Until you step into your rightful place of destiny, you cannot access the fullness of what God has ordained for your life.

Subtitle: The Mystery of the Appointed Place

Deuteronomy 6:23: “And he brought us out from thence, that he might bring us in, to give us the land which he sware unto our fathers.”

In the race to discover your real identity, there are places you must exit and places you must enter.

God expects you to shun old and worldly habits and enter into the Ark of Salvation.

You cannot remain where you used to be and expect to become the person you were created to be.

Many believers still cannot understand the principles of divine location.

They are yet to come to terms with the fact that though God is everywhere, He cannot reach a man everywhere.

There is a particular place you are ordained to be for God’s hand to locate you.

This is why many people usually miss their divine appointments.

If you forget everything in this chapter, do not ever forget this: if you are not divinely located, you cannot be divinely allocated.

As long as you are not positioned in the right place of destiny, you cannot qualify for the best God has prepared for your life. This is very sad, but true.

Genesis 12:1–3:
“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

God wanted to bless Abraham and make a great nation out of him.

But Abraham had to be properly located for the blessings to find him. Hence, he was commanded to change his location.

Can you imagine what would have happened if Abraham had refused to relocate, instead engaging in marathon prayer and fasting?

I am sure the man would have fasted himself to death without any positive change.

He must be rightly located for the right allocation to reach him.

Genesis 24:1: “And Abraham was old, and well stricken in age: and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things.”

God blessed him in all things and made him great as He had promised, because Abraham was in the right location assigned to him in destiny.

Recall that there was a time when Isaac, his son, also wanted to relocate.

Consider the account in Genesis 26:1–6:
“And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar. And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of: sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father; and I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. And Isaac dwelt in Gerar …”

There was a famine in the land, and according to Scripture, Isaac relocated to Gerar.

On arriving there, he discovered the famine was also severe in that land, and he thought it would make no sense to continue dwelling there.

He therefore decided to relocate to Egypt—probably because his father had made a similar journey in his days.

However, Isaac’s movement to Egypt would have truncated his divine allocation by removing him from his ordained place of destiny.

The Lord appeared to him and warned him not to embark on such a journey, as it would have thwarted the divine plan for his life.

Isaac was wise enough to heed the warning. This became the reason his divine allocation was given to him in full measure.

See how Scripture recounts this:

Genesis 26:12–14:
“Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year an hundredfold: and the Lord blessed him. And the man waxed great, and went forward, and grew until he became very great: for he had possession of flocks, and possession of herds, and great store of servants: and the Philistines envied him.”

The blessings of both Abraham and Isaac, among other things, hinge on their being at their appointed places of destiny, where their divine allocations could locate them.

If Abraham could not tell the Lord to bless him where he was, but had to surrender to the instruction for divine location, it means you also will not be able to persuade God to locate you outside your appointed place of destiny.

In the same vein, if Isaac could not talk God into overlooking the place of divine location, but against all odds and signs of impossibility had to obey, you also will not be able to persuade God to overlook your appointed place—if you must enter into your divine allocation.

Chapter One Episode Four

Title: What is Your Name?

Food for Thought: There is a name God called you before you were formed in the womb. When you discover that name, you discover your covenant identity.

Subtitle: The Discovery of Your Covenant Name

As important as a name is, are you aware that many people on earth do not understand the meaning of their names?

This is, to me, one of the most silent tragedies that can ever befall anyone.

If you are not informed about the meaning of your name, how will you be able to realize who you are? How will you discover the direction in which your life is supposed to follow? How will you know what to expect out of the life you are living?

Have you ever wondered why every covenant man who has ever lived usually has a covenant name?

I have looked at this matter several times, and I have found something amazing.

Each one of us who is a covenant man was called and ordained before the foundation of the world.

Ephesians 1:4–6:
"According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

If we were chosen, predestinated, and called before the foundation of the world, there should be a name by which we were called. This should be our covenant name.

Your parents gave you a name at birth, but God called you by a covenant name before you were formed in the womb. Discovering that name is discovering who you truly are in Him.

You must therefore answer this same name if you are to be successful in the work of your destiny.

Why do you think some covenant men in the Bible days had angels proclaiming what their names should be when they were born?

The few for whom God did not reveal their covenant names at birth had to discover them before stepping into the full blessedness of their assignments.

This is why God changed names sometimes before people stepped into their destinies.

If you are still thinking otherwise, you need to ask yourself why God has been so interested in the issue of names to the extent of calling out what name a child should be called.

Why should He not just leave the issue of the name to the parents to decide? There is definitely something behind names beyond what we are ever privy to. This is the only reason it could attract the interest of heaven.

The full knowledge of who you are, therefore, must begin with the discovery of your covenant name.

If you cannot find out your covenant name, you may not be able to discover and step into your assignment.

Let us look at it from another angle. What do you suppose would have happened if, after the angel proclaimed the name of Jesus, His parents had gone behind to name Him Daniel or Jeremiah or whatever they felt comfortable with?

They would have succeeded in taking Him away from His destiny and ignorantly terminated the divine assignment God had for Him.

In this same way, many believers are all over the place, messed up because they were wrongly named.

I want to encourage you today to go all out and discover what your covenant name is, because it will go a long way in helping you unveil the destiny ordained for you before the foundation of the world.

It is my prayer that God, through this book, will open you up to discover yourself, so that after reading through, you will be able to say confidently, "I know who I am”.

Chapter One Episode Three
Title: What is Your Name?

Food for Thought: Your life on earth is the mirror of your name.

Subtitle: Name is Prayer

If a name is a prophecy, it also means it is a word of prayer.

This means that when a name is pronounced, a word of prayer is released upon the bearer.

This explains why we have many names, such as Blessing, Favor, Prosper, among many others. Each time you call the name of your son, who is named Blessing, you are invoking the blessing of the Lord upon him.

Name is a spirit

In this same vein, a name is also a spirit. When you call a name, the spirit behind it is invoked, whether you are aware or not.

The Bible confirmed this through the life of a man called Jabez.

1 Chronicles 4:9–10:
"And Jabez was more honorable than his brethren: and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, Because I bare him with sorrow. And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested."

The above Scripture tells us that this mother, because of the experience she had in childbirth, named her son Jabez, which means "sorrowful."

Because a name is a spirit, the spirit of sorrow practically took over the life of the boy as he began to grow into adulthood.

It took his fervent prayer to be freed from the sorrowful spirit that accosted him due to his name.

The Bible also gives the account of a man called Nabal.

1 Samuel 25:25: "Let not my lord, I pray thee, regard this man of Belial, even Nabal: for as his name is, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thine handmaid saw not the young men of my lord, whom thou didst send."

Nabal, according to Scripture, means "foolishness."

We are also aware that the spirit behind this name possessed him completely, making his life a model of foolishness.

These, therefore, establish that your name determines the spirit that will follow you. This is very important.

Name is Power

A name also stands for power. It makes power available according to the spirit of the name.

A good example is the Name of Jesus.

Philippians 2:9–11:
"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Jesus is a name that holds power in the three realms of existence.

When it is invoked, the power of the Highest is brought to bear on the situation immediately.

It therefore follows that the name you bear will determine the power at work in your life and destiny.

This is a scriptural truth that cannot be broken by any natural law.

This explains why Jesus changed the name of one of His disciples from Simeon to Peter. Simeon means "a reed easily shaken by the wind."

But Jesus needed a strong-hearted man who would take over the responsibility of propagating the gospel after His departure. This is what He saw in Simeon.

He knew, however, that if the man must fulfill this super task, He would have to change his name. He immediately opted for the name Peter, which means "the rock."

When his name was changed, his attitude was changed, and his destiny was delivered.

A man who was like a reed shaken by any wind suddenly turned into a rock that is unmovable, bold, and strong.

No wonder he fulfilled the divine assignment given to him.

It will not be an exaggeration to conclude, therefore, that to change a man's destiny; you only need to change his name.

This is the extent to which a name is so important to the destiny of every man.

Chapter One Episode Two
Title: What is Your Name?

Food for Thought: Your name is the surest prophetic pillar for your destiny.

Subtitle: Name is a Prophecy
Another important reason a name is not just an identity tag is that it is a prophecy.

A prophecy in this context is the word of God spoken ahead of time to someone's life to establish their future.

There are references in Scripture to validate this fact. We shall look at one or two of such below:

1 Samuel 4:19–22:
"And his daughter in law, Phinehas' wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her. And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it. And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken."

In the above Scripture, Phinehas' wife went into hard labor when she received the news of the death of her husband and father-in-law, and the enemy's capture of the ark.

She felt there was no more hope for Israel because of the magnitude of the calamity that had befallen the people.

This sorrow of heart prompted her to give the newly born child such a name dictated by the circumstance.

Ichabod, which means "the glory has departed," therefore became a prophecy not only to the land of Israel but also to the life of the baby that was born.

Beyond his birth and genealogical mention, little is recorded of Ichabod's individual accomplishments, suggesting he functioned primarily as a symbolic fulfillment of that name, rather than a prominent leader in his own right.

He could have become a great man by virtue of his birth into a lineage of priests, but the name already robbed him of his glory.

We also find this truth being corroborated in the book of Isaiah.
Isaiah 9:6–7:
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this."

The above are the prophetic names given to Jesus Christ through the prophet Isaiah.

He spoke this word of prophecy about seven hundred years before Jesus was born. Notwithstanding, Jesus fulfilled all the prophecies according to His name.

This establishes the important fact that your name is a prophecy that you are destined to fulfill.

Our opening Scripture for this chapter also attests to this. Come with me as we go through the text again:

Genesis 2:19: "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."

God created everything and brought them to Adam. He, in turn, was expected to name them. Look at the last line of that Scripture and let us see the hidden truth in it:

"…and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."

The word written name thereof, according to the context, is the Strong's Hebrew word shem, which means "a conspicuous position, an appellation, character, or authority."

We can therefore reread the Scripture as follows: and whatever name Adam gave them became their character, or their life, or their conspicuous position.

It means, therefore, that names are prophecies that have inherent abilities to drive people's lives in the direction already spoken.

Once your name is good, your life will be good. And once your name is bad, your life will also follow suit. This is the mystery in names.

I am convinced this is the understanding the wisest man in the Bible discovered, which made him describe a good name as something more precious than silver and gold.

Proverbs 22:1: "A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold."

Ecclesiastes 7:1: "A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth."

May you choose a good name that will pilot your life to an enviable destination.

Chapter One Episode One
Title: What is Your Name?
Food for Thought:
A name is far more than a simple identity marker; it is a prophetic container that carries the potential for the unfolding of a man’s earthly destiny.

Genesis 2:19: "And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof."

Many people around the world believe that a name is only a label for identification. I want to disagree with this opinion and establish the fact that a name is far more than a mere identity tag.

A name is so significant to the destiny of every man. This explains why God could not take the matter of names with levity.

The truth is that every name holds within it the key to the manifestation and actualization of every man’s destiny on earth. I will bring out cogent reasons to corroborate this assertion below:

Name is a Pointer to Destiny
Your name, among other important things, is a pointer to your God-ordained destiny on earth.
The Scriptures corroborate this truth in many instances.

Abraham, the father of faith, was originally called Abram, which means "a high father," but God changed it to Abraham, meaning "the father of many nations."

Genesis 17:5: "Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee."

This new name was to redirect him to his God-ordained destiny.

Recall that Abraham was biblically a total failure before this time: a seventy-five-year-old man still living with his father in their family house. He had no self-identity, as the only noticeable thing about his life was barrenness. He had no money, no business of his own, and no child to show for his many years of marriage.

He was like a practical failure who met God and had his story changed for good. Through God, he discovered his destiny and had it accomplished.

Though his wife was still barren when God gave him the new name, it rekindled his hope of having children and strengthened his faith in God.

Each time someone called him, he was reassured of the nations he was to bring forth. God was also reminded of the promise to give him seed as the sand of the seashore.

This also happened to his wife, whose name God changed from Sarai to Sarah.

Genesis 17:15–16:
"And God said unto Abraham, As for Sarai thy wife, thou shalt not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall her name be. And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her."

God thus changed her name from Sarai ("my princess") to Sarah ("princess" or "noblewoman") to signify her new role as the mother of nations and kings, rather than just the matriarch of one family.

Abraham's divine destiny was to raise posterity for God on earth: to give God a people who may be called after his name. He was to father kings and nations who would bear God's name and be respected worldwide as His people.

It is not strange, therefore, that his strongest challenges arose based on this glorious destiny ahead of him.

Abraham, who was supposed to be the father of nations and kings, could not have any offspring with his wife for twenty-five years.

This is usually the case with every man of destiny on earth.
Your greatest challenges will always arise from the glorious destiny God has for you.

When you find yourself struggling and marking time at a spot, check well; it might be an indication of a future you have in that particular area.

This was proven in the life of Father Abraham.
However, when God changed his name and gave him a new one, He re-established him in his purpose on earth.

The same also applies to Israel, who was originally called Jacob, the supplanter. His name was changed after he fought with an angel and prevailed over him. He was named Israel, which means "a prince who prevailed with God."

This became the reason the children of Israel always prevailed against their enemies.

The Bible also tells us about Jesus, whose name pointed to the destiny He came to accomplish.

Matthew 1:21: "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins."

He was sent to save the people from their sin, and that is exactly what His name implied.
We can therefore confidently say every man's name points to the destiny he is on earth to fulfill.
