Maria Sanoudaki Ceramic Art Ceramic | Art studio

Made in Crete | Greece You will find me in a traditional stone dwelling that used to be the house of my great-grandparents.

Maria Sanoudaki Ceramic│Art Studio is a local studio based in the traditional village of Old Chersonisos in the island of Crete. In my studio you can discover unique handmade ceramic dishes, pots, home decor and elegant ceramic jewelry. Trying to find the sources of my roots, my work is inspired by the folk and ancient art of Crete combined with my constant research on contemporary and abstract ar

t. Each item in the store is unique and handmade. I use different throwing techniques to create wheel-formed ceramic work as well as pottery hand-building techniques; that’s why each item may be slightly different. I studied architecture in Thessaloniki before furthering my studies in Barcelona on Sustainable Architectural Design. I continued my architectural career at several architectural offices until I decided to focus on ceramic art and transform the traditional house of my great-grandparents to a beautiful art studio. You are welcome to visit my studio, feel the cretan hospitality and see my art, which is made with love and imagination.

Stoneware, fired at 1240°C.

Delighted to share that my piece is part of the "Animal Rites" contemporary ceramics exhibition, which has officially opened in Syros. A huge thank you to Chimera art & craft and Emmanouil Mastorakis for hosting this incredible dialogue.

The exhibition beautifully balances the dual meaning of its title—reflecting both the ancient rituals (rites) that linked us to animals and the modern conversations regarding their status and rights.

If you are in Syros, the exhibition is now open and waiting for you!
