The B & M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music presents Soft Prints, the new jewelry collection by visual artist Chrysanthi Koumianaki, and invites you to a festive evening on the Foundation’s rooftop, featuring music and free admission to the exhibition Stephen Antonakos: Vectors of Time and Space.

This limited-edition collection of handcrafted silver jewelry is inspired by small everyday findings-shells, seeds, stones, and tiny objects-that the artist gathers during her wanderings, each carrying its own materiality and memory.

Within Koumianaki’s artistic practice, these found objects are transformed through a complex process into new forms. The artist focuses on their imprints on soft surfaces, which she subsequently turns into jewelry-small sculptural pieces. Through this gesture, the object becomes a trace, both physical and symbolic. Objects that often go unnoticed acquire the emotional significance bestowed upon them by the simple act of being collected and carried in a pocket. Each jewelry series consists of a constellation of findings, while the body that wears them becomes a bearer of these impressions.

For Chrysanthi Koumianaki, jewelry-making is closely connected to the idea of connection. These works function as a means of creating relationships: a way to connect her family, the family business, her collaborators, and the people who wear her jewelry. Having grown up in the jewelry design and production workshop of Emmanouil Koumianakis in Heraklion, Crete, she continues a forty-year tradition, creating and producing her collections there.

Soft Prints | Χρυσάνθη Κουμιανάκη 2026

Το Ίδρυμα Εικαστικών Τεχνών και Μουσικής Β. & Μ. Θεοχαράκη παρουσιάζει τη νέα σειρά κοσμημάτων της εικαστικού Χρυσάνθης Κουμιανάκη, με τίτλο Soft Prints, και σας καλεί σε μια εορταστική εκδήλωση στην ταράτσα του Ιδρύματος Β. & Μ. Θεοχαράκη, με μουσική και δωρεάν είσοδο στην έκθεση Stephen Antonakos: Υστερόγραφα Χρόνου και Χώρου.

Η σειρά αυτή αποτελεί μια limited edition σειρά χειροποίητων κοσμημάτων σε ασήμι, εμπνευσμένη από μικρά καθημερινά ευρήματα, όπως κοχύλια, καρποί, πέτρες και μικροαντικείμενα, που συλλέγει στις περιπλανήσεις της και φέρουν τη δική τους υλικότητα και μνήμη.

Τα ευρήματα αυτά στην πρακτική της Κουμιανάκη αποκτούν νέα μορφή, μέσα από μια σύνθετη διαδικασία επεξεργασίας. Η καλλιτέχνιδα εστιάζει στο αποτύπωμα αυτών των αντικειμένων σε μαλακές επιφάνειες, που στην πορεία μετασχηματίζει σε κόσμημα – ως μικρά γλυπτά. Με την πράξη αυτή το αντικείμενο γίνεται ίχνος, πραγματικό και συμβολικό. Αντικείμενα, που συχνά περνούν απαρατήρητα, εδώ αποκτούν τη συναισθηματική δύναμη που τους δίνει το περιμάζεμά τους σε μια τσέπη. Κάθε σειρά κοσμημάτων αποτελείται από ένα σύμπλεγμα ευρημάτων και το ίδιο το σώμα που τα φορά μετατρέπεται σε φορέα αυτών των αποτυπωμάτων.

Για τη Χρυσάνθη Κουμιανάκη η πρακτική του κοσμήματος σχετίζεται άμεσα με την έννοια της σύνδεσης. Τα έργα αυτά λειτουργούν ως μέσο δημιουργίας σχέσεων: ένας τρόπος να συνδέσει την οικογένειά της, την οικογενειακή επιχείρηση, τους συνεργάτες της, αλλά και όσους φορούν τα κοσμήματά της. Μεγαλωμένη στο εργαστήριο σχεδιασμού και παραγωγής κοσμημάτων του Εμμανουήλ Κουμιανάκη στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης, συνεχίζει μία διαδρομή 40 ετών, δημιουργεί και παράγει εκεί τις συλλογές της.

Είχαμε τη χαρά να ανακαλύψουμε φέτος ένα σχέδιο από το αρχείο του Εμμανουήλ Κουμιανάκη, έναν Ήλιο, και σκεφτήκαμε ότι αυτή είναι η ευχή μας για το 2026!
Ο ήλιος, σύμβολο φωτός, προστασίας, ζεστασιάς και ανανέωσης!
Ένα σχέδιο που δημιουργήθηκε στα τελευταία χρόνια της δημιουργικής πορείας του Εμμανουήλ Κουμιανάκη και αποτυπώνει όλη την καθαρότητα και λιτότητα της γραφής του. Κατασκευασμένο στο εργαστήριό μας στο Ηράκλειο Κρήτης με τις παραδοσιακές τεχνικές που χαρακτηρίζουν τη δουλειά μας εδώ και δεκαετίες.
