Not everyone knows that the remarkable technical evolution of Longoni pool cues is, to a large extent, the result of a collaboration that began more than twenty years ago, when Niels Feijen, then a young player with tremendous potential, Cacti Aswan, his manager at the time, and Pierluigi Longoni first met.
It was 2003, and that first meeting took place in Middelburg, the Netherlands, at the headquarters of the renowned billiard company Loontjens.
At that time, Longoni was already recognized as a leading brand in carom and Italian five-pin billiards. However, the company saw the need to further develop its pool cue range to meet the evolving technical demands of the market. From that meeting, a journey of research, innovation, and product development began, with the goal of creating not only exclusive cues but also cutting-edge technical solutions.
Thanks to Cacti Aswan's contribution, several important promotional initiatives were launched, including the famous Benelux Open tournaments. These events introduced many young pool players to the Longoni brand, allowing them to discover the quality, innovation, and philosophy behind our products.
This collaboration gave birth to numerous milestones in Longoni's history: the signature cue models dedicated to Niels Feijen, the evolution of the Stratos shafts that ultimately led to the development of the innovative S2 Low Deflection shafts, and the creation of the Luna Nera pool shaft range, including the Break, American, and Performance profiles.
Today, more than twenty years later, this partnership continues to inspire new ideas and exciting projects. But what makes this story truly special is that, over the years, our professional relationship has grown into a genuine friendship.
Just a few days ago, Niels spent his vacation on Lake Como with his family. It was the perfect opportunity for the three of us to meet again, together with our families, sharing wonderful moments and reflecting on a journey that began more than two decades ago—and that continues today with the same passion, commitment, and enthusiasm.
