“There will be a new order some day. We’ll adjust, and beauty, we have to believe, will likely persist in the subtle hues and graceful movements of tidal pool creatures and, perhaps perversely, in the inexorable drive— of all life— to carry on.”

作者 Stephen E. Storm 是天文研究員，40 年來在美國多家大學任教天文學系。他說眺望星空時，也該低頭看看腳下，潮汐如星空，同是億（或更多）年來的定律，潮漲潮退如天空傳來的點點星光。作者於 2007 - 2014 年期間在北加州和俄勒岡州海岸進行拍攝，亦反映全球暖化對潮汐的影響。
