Two custom aquariums. Flanking the entrance of a private residence in Dubai. We're proud of this one. 🐠

The brief was specific: the aquariums should be the first and last thing guests see. They needed to be identical in dimensions with enough visual interest to reward a long look.

We designed twin saltwater reef systems, each built into the wall panels either side of the entrance. The lighting, the theming, and the fish selection all coordinated between the two tanks so they read as a single, symmetrical installation.

A new aquatic attraction is coming to Anaconda Adventure HQ in Brisbane.

With a total volume of 30,000 litres, this custom freshwater aquarium has been designed to create an engaging experience for visitors of all ages.

The exhibit will feature a large acrylic viewing panel, four interactive acrylic domes, custom habitat theming, and a life support system engineered for long-term reliability.

Designed, manufactured, and installed by RedFin Aquarium Design, the project combines engineering, theming, and aquatic life to create a destination feature within the store.

The hardscape comes first. Then the plants. Then the water. Then the fish. Aquascaping is an art form and one of the most satisfying parts of the build. 🌿

Most people focus on the fish. But what makes a great aquarium great is usually what's underneath; the arrangement of rock, wood, substrate and living plants that creates the environment the animals actually live in.

A well-designed aquascape does several things at once: it provides shelter and territory for the fish, it creates visual depth and interest for the viewer, and it supports the biological filtration of the system through surface area for beneficial bacteria.

Every piece of hardscape we use is selected and positioned by hand. No two aquascapes are identical.

Hotels and restaurants with aquariums consistently report longer dwell times, higher guest satisfaction scores, and stronger word-of-mouth. Here's what we've seen from our own commercial installations. ➡️

→ Atmosphere: an aquarium creates a dynamic focal point that changes continuously. Unlike art or sculpture, it's alive and guests respond to that differently.

→ Calm: watching fish reduces stress hormones and lowers blood pressure. Studies in healthcare, hospitality and education all point to the same conclusion. Your guests feel better in your space.

→ Dwell time: when people linger, they spend more. An aquarium near a bar, waiting area or retail display keeps guests engaged without requiring staff interaction.

Every completed aquarium reaches a point where it leaves our workshop and begins its journey to site. It's a rewarding milestone for the team, marking the transition from months of design, engineering, and fabrication to installation.

From careful handling to secure packaging, every step is planned to ensure the aquarium arrives exactly as it left our facility.

Our aquarists are responsible for some of the world's most complex privately managed aquatic systems from residential tanks to the 480,000-litre cylindrical aquarium at Marriott Ocean Park in Hong Kong.

Every morning starts with parameters: pH, salinity, temperature, alkalinity, nitrate. Every deviation from spec gets investigated. Every animal gets observed.

Then there's scheduled work: water changes, coral dosing, filter maintenance, equipment servicing and more.

Then the unscheduled work: a pump fails, a fish shows signs of disease, a client calls with a question. The aquarium never stops which means the aquarist doesn't stop either.

We're incredibly proud of our operations team. They make everything else we do possible.

They've survived 5 mass extinctions. Here are 5 things you should know about jellyfish. 🪼 ➡️

→ No brain, no heart, no blood. Jellyfish have no centralised nervous system, no cardiovascular system, and no respiratory system. Their bodies are 95% water yet they're one of the ocean's most effective predators.

→ Some are biologically immortal. Turritopsis dohrnii can revert to its juvenile polyp state when stressed effectively resetting its life cycle indefinitely. Scientists are still studying the mechanism.

→ They predate the dinosaurs by hundreds of millions of years. Jellyfish have survived every mass extinction event in Earth's history. They've been here far longer than we have.

→ They navigate using gravity. Specialised cells called statocysts detect which way is down jellyfish don't need eyes to know which direction they're heading.

→ A group of jellyfish is called a 'smack'. Arguably the best collective noun in the animal kingdom.
