While the first time you are receiving this mode of communiqué from the LOGISTICIANS, the #003 of OTHERWISE DISPATCH refers not to this call, but to a burgeoning enterprise of multi-purposing the LIGHT LOGISTICS network. For #001 (also known as HQL-662), beer and reverse-soled 'smuggler shoes' were transported to Brussels, #002 (also known as One by One, Together, Apart, and Distributed) carried printed documents, a luggage belt, and sunflower seeds, and for #003, we call deep into the logistical grid, hoping to find carriers for an entire box or suitcase of used and/or unwanted clothing. As a more bulky and time-sensitive dispatch, there will be a retainer to cover your costs.* This dispatch needs to get to the Netherlands, but anywhere in Europe would be relayable.

These clothing items, by trajectorial affinity and coincidence, will be part of an alternative South-North dialogue on logisticality as narration —— or, a yarn! More information available on request.

Theetat THUNKIJJANUKIJ and his eponymous copy business join Display Distribute for OTHERWISE DISPATCH #003, part of an ongoing exploration into the ‘courier-torial’ as method, whereby the fissures of systems architecture are pried open to discover otherwise forms of assembly and production. “The Loss Stays in the Market”, a phrase taken from a report on the
225,000-tonne annual trade of secondhand clothes between Europe and Ghana, points to economic and ecological burdens as a negative, and OTHERWISE DISPATCH #003 begins from the vast mountains of surplus garments as a reverse action, moving the unwanted and unnecessary in unwieldy fashion, tracing routes from Asia, North America, and Africa to the Netherlands. Display Distribute will appropriate its own grassroots LIGHT LOGISTICS network for these journeys, which will gather garments into one material hoard at the State of Fashion Biennale in Arnhem, together with its durational replica. The installation will be materially transformed over the course of the exhibition from the weighty burden of ‘loss’ into a conjoined, singular spool of yarn — the network and its economy as a play with scale and order, a flattening and literal weaving into one very long, logistical manoeuvre.
