金剛夜叉 Vajra-yaksa Distortion

​Designed by boutique circuit architect Sky Kung , the Vajra-yaksa Distortion is a ferocious homage to one of the most legendary dirt boxes in guitar history: the iconic RAT. But this is no mere clone; it is an evolution. Marrying vintage topology with meticulous modern craftsmanship, the Yakṣa is built to deliver a colossal spectrum of dirt, from gritty, dynamic overdrive to thick, sustaining, wall-of-sound fuzz.

​The Heart of the Beast: The LM301 op-amp.
​At the core of Sky Kung’s circuit design is the vintage-spec LM301 operational amplifier. Much like the fabled LM308 found in early versions of its rodent-inspired ancestor, the LM301 features a deliberately slow slew rate. When pushed to its limits, this chip struggles to reproduce high frequencies instantly, resulting in the creamy, harmonically rich, and slightly sagging distortion that defines the classic "RAT" sound. Sky Kung has masterfully tuned the surrounding circuit to harness the LM301's unique clipping characteristics, ensuring the pedal retains exceptional string clarity even at punishing gain levels.

Vajra-yaksa is a powerful guardian protector in Buddhist history who serves as one of the five top warrior gods guarding the world from the north direction. He is famous for eating bad things because he swallows evil spirits, dirty energy, and negative thoughts like a fierce spiritual vacuum cleaner. To do this, he appears very angry and scary with three faces and six arms holding weapons. His fierce look is meant to frighten away human greed and anger so he can turn bad habits into good wisdom.
