Every year, the last Thursday in October is International Carignan Day. This holiday is established by Carignan Renaissance. Carignan is a red grape from Spain, yet it is often found in French wine with flavors reminiscent of pepper, cherry, blackberry, banana, almond and even prune.

Wait…Can Halloween candy pair with Wine?
Sure, it pairs very well. Let’s try.
2014 Maison Leroy Bourgogne Rouge can elevate the flavours of Toblerone. The soft tannin goes well with milky texture of Yorkie, Flake and Twirl.
Pairing the Reese’s Cup and Mars with a dark jammy red like 2007 J. Daniel Cuvee Lail Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon is a great chose, it goes well with the nuttiness and caramel.
A big, full-bodied wine like the 1999 Clarendon Hills Astralis Shiraz is perfect match with Snickers and Picnic. It stands up to the rich flavours.
The oaky 2003 Colline Pescaresi Alhena Chardonnay is nice pairing with Kit Kat and Twix. A rich, full buttery chardonnay intensifies its flavour.
2015 Mosbach Riesling 'L' Exception' is great to pair with Crunchie and Maltesers. The crunchy texture matches up with the crispy Riesling taste.

2007 Kurni, Oasi Degli Angeli, Marche
Kurni is a small winery located in Central Italy, Marche district. Their small production made with 100% old vines. The 2007 Kurni is simply fabulous. This rich, deeply-textured wine bursts onto the palate with masses of chocolate, coffee, blueberry, blackberry jam, spices and licorice. In 2007 the tannins are particularly ripe, elegant and finessed. In fact, this is one of the finest vintages of Kurni I have tasted.

It’s National Orange Wine Day: What is Orange Wine Anyway?
Orange wine is nothing new. It’s an ancient style of wine production and its origins can be traced back at least 6,000 years to Georgia. It involves producing orange wines that have been allowed to ferment while still being in contact with the grape skins.
By leveraging “skin-contact” with white wines, producers are able to extract additional color, tannins and flavor that would not normally be present. In some cases, skin-fermented white wines can show orange-colored hues, tannic-texture and flavor profiles reminiscent of apricot, honey, hazelnut, orange rind, lemon, spices and apples.

Orange Wine (橙酒) 其實並非一時興起的潮流，早在6000年前出現，格魯吉亞一直沿用此法。
釀造橙酒特別的地方就在於將果汁跟皮浸放在一起，這讓酒取得了一些皮的顏色，從而得出橙橙的酒色。這種浸泡白葡萄皮的釀造手法，與一般葡萄酒的分別在於Skin Contact（浸皮時間）。酒色多數呈現橙色或琥珀色，有點點單寧。味道通常會有杏、蜂蜜、榛子、橙皮、檸檬、香料、蘋果的風味特徵。

Chateau Margaux has been recognized since the 17th century as one of the greatest wines in the world. The 1996 Chateau Margaux, a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. It is blessed with freshness on the nose, understated at first and then blossoming with black fruit, hints of blueberry, crushed stone and violet. The palate is perfectly balanced with tannin and acidity. This may well turn out to be the Left Bank pinnacle of the 1990s.
