Ever heard of washed coffee? 🍒💦☕️

Not all coffee tastes the same—and a big reason why is process. When we say “washed coffees” (also called wet-processed), we’re talking about how the coffee bean is removed from the fruit before drying.

In simple terms:
After picking, the outer fruit (the cherry) is stripped off using water and fermentation. This removes the sticky pulp cleanly, leaving just the bean, which is then dried.

Washed coffees let the true character of the origin shine through. Next time, check on our website what washed options we’re roasting! 👀

In places like Ethiopia, coffee isn’t just one or two cultivars. There are thousands of wild, native varieties growing naturally.

That’s why a cup from Yirgacheffe can taste like jasmine and citrus, while another from Guji leans toward berries and tropical fruit.

Then you have structured Kenyan varieties like SL28 and SL34 — known for intense acidity, blackcurrant notes, and a bold, juicy profile.
