Hybrid transceivers: the Swiss Army knives of industrial communication?

🔵In recent years, with the development of Android-based smartphones, transceivers have appeared that are not only suitable for communication, but also for navigation, documentation, and data transfer – a kind of Swiss Army knife of industrial communication.

⚪One of their biggest advantages is that they are capable of traditional VHF radio communication and Internet-based POC conversations at the same time. If one network is unavailable, the other immediately takes over, so the connection is never interrupted.

Over the past year, we have integrated our new ANIPOC internet-based radio system into numerous law enforcement and civil guard organizations. This time, the Law Enforcement Office of the Mayor's Office of Páty shared their experiences with us, having switched to the new PoC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) internet-based communication technology in 2025.

The Páty Law Enforcement Office is responsible for public space surveillance, field guarding, and professional fishing law enforcement tasks in the administrative area of the municipality of Páty. Gábor Hermann, Head of the Law Enforcement Office, answered our questions.

🆕SDRplay releases new SDRconnect software features

⚪SDRplay has added rig control to their multiplatform SDRconnect software for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi. As shown in the picture, they have also added features to the nRSP-ST administrator tool which now gives a lot more visibility and control over who you authorise to share your nRSP-ST. The nRSP-ST is a rugged stand-alone networked receiver designed for long term unattended operation, covering 1kHz to 2GHz.

🔵The new admin features are especially useful for radio clubs who might use an nRSP-ST located at a location with a low noise environment and decent antennas. That way, newcomers or indeed anyone stuck in a location with no chance of an antenna can enjoy the reality of excellent signals as received locally. Everything from simplex VHF nets through to what HF DX is coming in. Local transmitting hams are instantly visible on the spectrum display by their huge signal strength!

👮‍♂️🎙️Németh Security & Protection Kft. has been providing security and guarding services in Kecskemét and it's surrounding area for three years. After three years, Ottó, the company's managing director, decided it was time to replace the short-range PMR446 transceivers with a more sophisticated system.

📱🌐To our great delight, he chose the ANIPOC system, and we asked him to report on his experiences so far. Our colleague Róbert Ferenczi met with Németh Security employees at Domb Beach in Kecskemét and asked them about the use of the system, the patrol control system, and their plans for the future.

Our company was established in 1991, Hungary, Europe. First we started to deal with amateur radios in the country, but after a year we realised, there was a big potential in professional radios too. So we started to build our connections with the largest distributors and producers from the whole word (Motorola, Vertex Standard, Yaesu, Standard Horizon, PCTEL, Astron, Belden etc.) and produce some OEM products like antennas, cables etc.

At the turn of the Millennium we became one of the official distributors of Motorola. In 2008, we have singned a distributor contract with Motorola so we are able to sell radios all over the world. Therefore we have expand our network system and operate in Central & Easter Europe and in Central Asia.

We are working together with the governmental-, oil-, gas-, iron-, minery sector, road -, air-, water-, public transportation sector in a lot of countries. We have referencies in thiese countries from the police-, border guard deparments etc. We are working with analogue and digital sysmtem, GPS vehicle local systems, AVL systems.
