It's been a while since I last made a cuff, but then came a (rather mild) case of COVID that gave me had a lot of free time when I could do little more but watching paint dry 🤷‍♂️ so I thought I'd revive my cuffmaking skills with this granadillo one for myself. The photos do little justice here. Granadillo, with the right surface treatment - in this case, two coats of hard oil and a finishing coat of hard wax - develops an insanely rich reddish brown colour with a hint of purple that's striking even from a distance. I'm rather content with how this one worked out 😍

Although not a true rosewood, santos rosewood has the grain and the scent of real Dalbergias, making it a great and much more sustainable alternative to several rosewood species like the CITES-controlled (and critically endangered) cocobolo or the Bahia/Brazilian rosewood.

It wasn't easy to select 10 photos to post, because tiger etimoe looks stunning on each and every photo. Does anyone know what causes this appearance in etimoe? My best guess is some sort of stress to the tree (like insect or microbial damage). It also looks like spalting, but without the spongy texture which I think would be inevitable for spalted wood. Anyway, a whole bundle in available in the shop in 7 listings - go ahead and make something gorgeous with it :)

🛑 QUICK QUESTION: On a scale of 1 to 5, how useful would you find these ⬆️ virtual rulers for our product photos on Etsy? 1 = Don't bother, Peter, 5 = OMG I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THIS!!! Please tell me it's the latter, because I put an unreasonable amount of time into generating these rulers programmatically haha :)
