Wulung

Seperti namanya wulung yang berarti elang (pada elang bondol), karena motif warnanya mirip elang wulung (elang bondol/elang laut) sehingga merpati local ini disebut wulung. Ukuran tububuhnya sedang, dan kepala berjambul. Ada yang berkaki bersih tapi tidak jarang juga ditemukan jenis yang kakinya berbulu.

Merpati Wulung

Motif pada merpati wulung ini harus ada campur tangan darimanusia, yang artinya warna putihnya sengaja dibentuk dengan cara bulu bulu yang belum berwarna putih dicabuti sehingga nantinya tumbuh warna putih bersih dikepalanya. Memang kelihatan sedikit aneh dengan memperlakukannya seperti ini, tapi diwilayah jawa timur yang merupakan asal muasal merpati jenis ini hal itu wajar dan sering dilakukan.
