Two Cats Brand (TCB) - TCB 50’s and Late S40’s Restock Jeans & Jacket

We have just received a fresh batch of these two of TCB’s favorites - the TCB 50’s and the Late S40’s, both back in stock in matched Jeans and a denim Jacket set.

The TCB 50’s is where the TCB story really begins, a faithful reproduction of the Levi’s 501 in 50’s era, cut from approximately 13.5oz Zimbabwe cotton woven on vintage looms in Kojima. Its silhouette is the mid-century workwear identity: high rise, regular straight leg, five-metal-button fly. The paired Type II denim jacket sits alongside as the matching piece for a perfect 50’s denim tux.

The Late S40’s are TCB’s late World War II reproduction, a piece drawn from a vintage flannel-pocket jean they studied and rebuilt. Made from a special custom-made 13.5oz selvedge denim for this Late S40’s Jeans. It’s woven with uneven Texas cotton yarn, a mix of no. 7.5 and no. 6.5 yarn for the warp and a no. 6 yarn for the weft, to faithfully reproduce the slubby, irregular texture of vintage denim. It features the signature flannel pocket bags carrying the resource shortage story of wartime era. The paired jacket also holds true the vibe of the era, with its iconic 4 doughnut laurel-leaf buttons, shorter length, and non-flap chest pocket. TCB deliberately reproduces period-correct “flaws” and turns them into historical features and unique details which are highly praised by true denim enthusiasts.

Two Cats Brand (TCB) - New Cats Drive Jeans & Jacket

After a hiatus for 3 years, TCB is bringing back their TCB Cats Drive series. Available in a matched jean-and-jacket set and built as TCB’s faithful reproduction of the vintage denim from the cowboy brand dating back to the late 1940’s to the 50’s. As we all know, jeans were originally garments intended for a wide range of people, serving as reliable companions for coal miners, farmers, and workers across various professions. Yet, what makes this particular pair so interesting is that, within that broad appeal, it was also designed with a very specific scenario in mind: Riding a Horse. This is the story of this cowboy piece.

TCB uses EMOT cotton - a blend sourced from East Memphis, New Orleans, and Texas-with 6-count warp yarns and 6-count weft yarns, and engineered the fabric specifically to produce the long, continuous fading lines characteristic of Left Hand Twill Denim, the signature of this cowboy jeans. By creating longer slubs irregularities in the yarn, they’re physically generating more pronounced variations on the fabric surface to achieve those elongated, streaky fading patterns. This is the Cat’s Drive reimagined through the lens of TCB today.

The details truly speak in these pieces. When sitting on a horse / riding a bike, the pockets are less likely to interfere with the saddle because, regardless of size, the position of every pocket is fixed from the side seam. What is also interesting is that, with most jeans, the pocket size usually increases as the waist size gets larger. But on this model, the pocket size remains the same across all sizes. We can see the idea of “never let the pockets get in the way of the saddle”. This is the kind of quiet, purposeful detail that defines a real cowboy / biker jeans. This Cat Driver jeans also features a cowhide leather patch with embossed TCB which is sewn using two stitches, top and bottom, allowing the belt to pass through the patch. The jeans feature a regular straight with a slight taper from knee to leg opening, giving it a perfect rider jeans silhouette.

ONI DENIM - ONI 246-GC15, ONI 288-GC15 & ONI 200-GC15 - 15oz Green Cast Indigo Selvage Denim

Here they are the new ONI Greencast indigo selvage denim collection. Oishi-san, the mastermind of ONI Denim, combines indigo rope-dyeing with sulfur dye pigments layered into the war, which was repeatedly done to achieve this distinctive blue-green hue. The weft is woven from undyed natural cotton yarns, giving the fabric a beige-white undertone that quietly see through the surface. The 15oz fabric is woven on a vintage shuttle loom with low-tension weaving method that ONI’s known for.

The unique thing about Green Cast denim is on how they look when they fade. As the fabric is worn and the indigo fades, the underlying sulfur pigments revealed, the fabric develops vintage turquoise, blue-green hues that are unique to Green Cast denim, giving an old-school denim appearance.

These jeans feature ONI doughnut buttons, waistband tag, deerskin leather patch, and the bold white selvage ID which is unique to ONI Green Cast fabric.

Studio D’Artisan 1917 Fox Cotton Baker Pants

Studio D’Artisan hits us again with another stunning piece! Here it is the new Studio D’Artisan Fox Cotton Baker Pants, a mid-century military pants made from one of the highly-prized cottons in the modern textile world: Sally Fox’s Foxfibre® organic naturally-coloured cotton.

Foxfibre® is the work of Sally Fox, the American agricultural pioneer often referred to as the mother of organic coloured cotton, who has spent four decades reviving naturally-coloured cotton varieties that trace back over five thousand years. Where conventional white cotton requires heavy bleaching and dyeing to take on a colour, Foxfibre® grows in subtle earth-toned hues directly from the seed of the plant: soft reddish-brown Coyote, quiet green-amber Roadrunner, and the warm brown which is used for this herringbone fabric as the base of this baker pants. No dye, no bleach, no chemical processing are involved in the making process, the colour is the cotton itself, and it deepens rather than fades as the fibre ages.

The cut is inspired from 1940s U.S. servicemen’s fatigue pants, featuring the deep rise and slightly wide leg cut, and also the period correct details, side adjustment tabs at the waist, iron Studio D’Artisan-branded buttons, and a zipper fly. The 12oz herringbone weave gives the fabric a substantial, structured hand with the subtle pattern surfacing quietly under natural light.

Studio D’Artisan D5732 - 13oz Kakishibu Selvage Denim Work Shirt

Studio D’Artisan brings us another beautiful piece of shirt. Here it is the new Studio D’Artisan D5732, the 13oz Kakishibu Selvage Denim Work Shirt, a piece where two of Japan’s most historically rich textile traditions collide and come into a single piece: Kakishibu, the persimmon-tannin dye that has been around since the Heian period, and Kasezome, the traditional hank-dyeing method that gives each yarn natural irregularities and depth of color.

The warp is a harmonious blend of No. 6 slub and nep yarn, dyed by hand using the traditional “Kasezome” method, yarns dyed in small bundles rather than rope-dyed continuously, producing natural colour irregularities, depth, and subtle tonal variation that machine dyeing simply cannot replicate. The weft is a No. 5 super-slub yarn, giving rugged texture and pronounced weight to the face of the fabric. After the shirt is sewn, the finished piece is garment-dyed in “Kakishibu”, the persimmon-tannin dye that has been used on Japanese cloth for over a thousand years, prized both for its distinctive warm-earth colour and for the way it deepens and evolves over time.

Kakishibu has a distinctive patina. As the fabric is exposed to sunlight and air, the persimmon tannin oxidizes which makes the colour deepens, softens, and settles into a warm, layered patina, unique to Kakishibu. Each shirt will develop its own hue while wearing overtime.

This shirt features double chest pockets, side gussets with selvage detail, black resin button opening, and has been one-washed to make it easy to wear from the start. Whether worn as a standalone shirt or a light overshirt, this shirt is a testament to Studio D’Artisan’s dedication to reviving the deep Japanese textile traditions.

The real star of the show here is the fabric, a custom 13.7oz ecru selvedge denim, woven in Okayama, Japan, on old-school shuttle looms. Samurai SJWS-SC01W 10oz Samurai Cotton Denim Work Shirt

Along with the Ecru “Kinari” jeans, we also received the new Samurai SJWS-SC01W, the 10oz Samurai Cotton Denim Work Shirt. A piece where Samurai’ own hand-grown Japanese cotton meets the same denim-making method that produces their 17oz Zero denim.

Samurai Cotton Project is Samurai’s ongoing effort to grow, harvest, and weave a completely Japan-sourced cotton denim from seed to your favorite piece of clothing. A project led by founder Tohru Nogami, the founder and mastermind of Samurai Jeans. You can read the complete story in our previous post.

This shirt is woven from this Samurai Cotton, then spun into an uneven no. 10 yarn and rope-dyed in the same way Samurai apply to make their signature 17oz Zero denim. The result is a fabric with an unexpected depth of texture and a unique hand-feel character. Despite being considered lightweight, this 10oz denim has its own textures and richness usually found in much heavier cloth. With wearing overtime, this shirt will definitely deliver a beautiful patina and color we all love.

This shirt features Samurai’s robust construction, meticulously rolled triple-stitching through the seams, chain-stitched side seams with distinct runoffs, gusseted side vents for movement, double chest flap pockets, and white cat’s eye buttons.

Samurai S510XX25oz-SP 25oz Special Jeans Selvage Denim Regular Straight

Here they are the new and the most anticipated jeans, The Samurai S510XX25oz-SP. This is the return of one of Samurai’s most sought-after jeans, made in their signature S510XX Regular Straight cut, built on Samurai’s Heaviest denim, the 25oz “Special Project” selvage denim, released as a limited edition after two-years hiatus.

Samurai’s 25oz denim is well-known for its slubbiness, which is unusual to find on denim this thick. It’s woven on a vintage shuttle loom, with specially developed slub yarns that gives this denim a tough feel and crazy texture, definitely not for the faint of heart. The denim will eventually conform to the wearer over time and reward its owner’s bravery and consistency with beautiful and high-contrast fade the Samurai’s 25oz denim is widely known.

This special jeans is cut into Samurai S510XX Regular Straight cut, Samurai’s most versatile silhouette, known for its mid-rise, ample room on the thigh and clean column through the leg.
