The excitement of arrival at a destination wedding 🖤

Guests have travelled across the world, made a trip of it, and then finally everyone is in the same place.

On this particular afternoon, that place was Bantry House, overlooking the breathtakingly beautiful bay, with the mountains stretching out beyond it.

The guest experience starts well before the ceremony, and a very warm welcome includes a very cold glass of Champagne.

One of my favourite things to plan into a wedding weekend is that first moment guests arrive - somewhere beautiful to settle in, something lovely to drink, and absolutely nowhere they need to rush off to.

My favourite part of a wedding day keeps changing.

Currently, it’s that point late in the evening when the band comes on and the dance floor goes wild, and there is nothing left to do but have the best time.

Jo Petit & The Dream Band are the best, and this dance floor didn't stop all night.

On our very first call, she told me her family does surprises. Something would happen, she said. She just didn’t know what, or when.

What she told me much later was that watching my daughter stay glued to me for that entire Zoom call was how she knew. If I could hold my daughter’s needs and a call at the same time with that much calm, I would be well able for whatever the wedding day brought.

She was right.

Her sister took charge. A flash mob, followed by a synchronised performance nobody saw coming. And everybody, myself included, in absolute awe.

This gorgeous wedding at Adare Manor will always be one of my favourites. For the energy, for the surprise, and for the family traditions woven all the way through it.
